1.  Lorrene's Blog...
FABULOUS!!!  TERRIFIC!!  THE BEST YET!!!!  Just a few of the comments I heard after our concert last Saturday!  Bravo!  Thank you for such a great concert.  You made me so proud and happy.  I had a great time; I hope you did, too.

Time to  take a few days off and then check out the links for the next semester.

Thank you to everyone who helped with set up and who helped us tear down the reception.  You are very much appreciated.

Thank you for the beautiful card and sentiments and incredibly generous gift.

Have a great holiday season!
Love,
Lorrene
2.  From The President...
Dear VOICES Family,

It was disappointing not to be able to sing with you all for our concert. 😞  That aside, I had the privilege of getting to listen from the audience. 😁 If you haven't ever been in that position, please know that you ROCK!   I had to keep myself from standing up and making a scene, lol.  We always give Lorrene and Ross a scare a couple of weeks before concert time by having a rehearsal that's...... shall I say......a bit under par.  I commend you all for your caring and dedication and for putting in the time to create a wonderful performance.  That goes for you too Lorrene, Ross and Rachel!

VOICES tries very hard to keep our dues at a the lowest level possible so that everyone can afford to sing with us.  This semester we opted to keep all ticket prices at $12 pre-sale and $15 at the door to help meet this end.  You will notice that our audience didn't shy away.  If you're like most of us sometimes you feel odd about selling VOICES concert tickets to your friends and colleagues. I'm here to tell you that we are TOTALLY worth that $15 ticket!  Be proud of yourselves for giving of yourself through the gift of song....and doing it well.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday break.  Stay healthy (or get healthy) and enjoy your family and friends.  Next semester begins on January 8th with a Cookie and Cocoa Social at our first rehearsal.  Bring a friend.

Warmest wishes,
Sherrie
3.  Concert By The Numbers...
Our concert was great fun and very well received by the 160 or so in attendance. An added bonus was that we sold more than 150 tickets and made our budget for the event. That's important because ticket sales are key to keeping our fees reasonable. Thanks for all your help in getting the word out and promoting ticket sales.
4.  We Need To Know...
We don't plan a formal survey but your Steering Committee will be meeting on December 18 to de-brief the semester and plan for the next.  We would greatly benefit from your observations and suggestions. What went well? What didn't go so well? What changes would strengthen the VOICES experience? What suggestions do you have for the future? Any comments, however brief or detailed, would be helpful. Send comments to Mike Duttweiler at mduttweiler@gmail.com or, if you would rather comment anonymously, via this website:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q5JJ2Q2
5.  A Peek Into 2018...
Excitement is gathering for our Spring 2018 program “Great Expectations: Songs of Hope.”  We will feature music from around the world that inspires, refreshes, validates and encourages in the face of these harsh times of divisiveness and strife. Unique to this concert will be a community sing including guests from other area choruses -- building bridges of hope in our community. Please plan to join us and invite others who might enjoy this experience.

6.  Spring Semester Registration Is Open - Website Updated...

7.  Next Semester's Newsletter...
We are adding a new feature to next semester's weekly newsletter.  It is a chance for each of you to share with the other members of Voices why you sing, what the music means to you and/or what it means to be a part of the group.  We are looking for copy and paste plain text - 1 or 2 paragraphs - about 200 words maximum.  So...activate your muse and send your words to EdOlmstead@ofpcinc.com.

Questions, Comments and Newsletter Items...
The Voices Newsletter is published each Thursday during the semester.  Have a question about Voices, comments or suggestions for the newsletter, or do you have an item for the newsletter (items should be related to the chorus or the local music community)?  Contact Ed Olmstead at EdOlmstead@ofpcinc.com.
