Romans 13:11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

TESTED OR TEMPTED? URGENTLY SEEK CHRIST!

We daily battle between whether to prepare or procrastinate. Which type of person are you? Families might prepare to travel to a reunion or go on a vacation. Students are just getting back into school and must prepare assignments. Businesses are gearing up for seasonal holiday months just around the corner. Maybe we're preparing for an upcoming surgery or even a loved one or close friend's death? And on and on with examples we could go.

It all can be a bit overwhelming can't it? Preparations aren't easy, and often times life makes them not very enjoyable. Therefore, procrastination becomes the easy way out. But procrastination often brings a load of anxiety and upsetting results! Paul wrote to the Roman Christians about the urgency in being prepared saying, "And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts" (Romans 13:11-14).

The one area in which we cannot procrastinate is in being prepared for our Lord Jesus' coming! He prepares us through reading and studying, hearing and worshipping, and coming to God's house and participating. Let's not be caught procrastinating in our spiritual growth through the Holy Spirit in the Word, for "the day is at hand!" Our growth in Christ's word of repentance and forgiveness will mean growth in others also! God grant it!
