Next Wednesday we will be seeing a selection of the successful entries in this year's Southampton International Exhibition, presented by Sue Sibley ARPS, EFIAP, DPAGB, BPE2*
This is a slight change from the original planned event, as instead of being treated to Sue "in the flesh", we will be seeing her across the airwaves via Zoom. Despite this change, we should be in for a cracking evening of top-rate images, presented in Sue's own inimitable style.

Closing date for Annual Print Competition is Wednesday 31 May. There is a change to the advertised judge, it will now be John Chamberlin FRPS MFIAP. Please place your prints in the boxes provided on the stage at the clubrooms.
Please note, you will need to upload jpeg copies of all prints entered, unless they have been entered in previous competitions this year, in which case you will already have uploaded the jpeg copy.
Full details of the competition rules can be found in the Members' Area of the BPS website. |
Well, it's almost here - The Bob Faris Memorial Event will be this coming Sunday, when we will be treated to talks by two internationally renowned photographers, Joe Cornish & Michael O'Sullivan. This is an opportunity not to be missed, for two reasons: firstly, the speakers are great and secondly it's FREE - how often will you get the chance to see two photographers of this calibre without having to dip your hand into your pocket?

After several requests for a day out I am considering a trip to the British Birds of Prey Centre located within the National Botanic Garden of Wales at Llanarthne. See their website photography.
It will cost £450 for the day and they can accommodate up to 25 people. The cost also covers admission to the gardens and the house. We would get a dedicated handler with a good selection of British raptors and we will have a selection of locations to shoot within. More details and a gallery are on their website.
To make this worthwhile and affordable I would suggest a minimum of 12 people and we can carshare. The choice of dates is fairly wide. Why not come along and get some award winning images both from the birds and from the Botanic gardens.

We should still be promoted to the top group, next year! And, finally, congratulations to everyone that has supported us this year and particularly to John on his award in round 3. Mike

If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include it in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).
