 A Personal Recommendation

This Wednesday evening, July 1st, we are
privileged to host MacArthur Fellow Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie at our shop
at 7 pm. This relatively young author has already captivated the literary world
with two bestselling novels, Purple Hibiscus and Half of a Yellow Sun. Her new
book, The Thing Around Your Neck, is a collection of stories which
is getting excellent reviews. Adichie has already won several prestigious
literary awards, and it seems it is only a matter of time before she wins the
Booker Prize or a Pulitzer. Her writing is mature beyond her years (she is in
her early thirties), filled with the wisdom of a much older storyteller, and
shows the lyricism and power of a poet. She is a writer’s writer.
We urge you to come meet her this Wednesday evening.
It will be a rare opportunity to meet a writer of her gifts in the intimate setting of BookShop West Portal.
