A Message From Gustav

| Ahhh six am. Is there a better time to go to sleep? Having just worked on a new song that sounds awesome I want to say no, but when I am woken up by dear old Ben a few hours later, I definitely want to say yes, practically anything is better than going to bed at six am. One thing about writing a new record is that it is in equal measures elating exciting and brilliant, but also draining and difficult. Lots of late nights, hard work and determination are all vital, to us at least. Now, we find ourselves reaching the end of the road writing-wise, and are having to organise jabs and all the other important stuff that we probably won't actually do. Can't believe we're actually going! I strongly feel that going somewhere as different and as new as a recording studio in Thailand is going to be for us will allow us to redefine what we can do as a band and step up to the challenge of recording a bigger, bolder and better record than All Our Kings Are Dead. That has to be the goal any time you record an album, and we're setting our sights high. Time will tell, but right now things feel good, and it's definitely going to be a different experience to doing the first album in a sweaty studio in East London (no disrespect meant, Dan!).
Speaking of the first record, in case you guys didn't know we've just released the deluxe 'Gold' edition of our debut album. We're really excited to be able to release the definitive version 364 days after the original release, it feels nicely cyclical, and along with the september tour (more on that in a sec) it wraps up a truly incredible album release. All Our Kings Are Dead has really changed all of our lives and we wanted to give it a good send off so we took what we already had and packed it with extra stuff to make it a worthy addition. It features content from the Red Bull Studios in London where we recorded a handful of re-worked acoustic renditions of songs, live performance footage from our biggest headline show to date at London's Electric Ballroom (last December), a 30 minute documentary recounting our journey from our first days as a band through all the experiences we've had to bring us to now, and every music video we've ever filmed to do with the album. It's got really cool re-designed artwork and it's cheap too, so pick it up! We're pleased with it and think you'll like it too. check out the video trailer here and you can pre-order it now from Amazon or Play
Due to writing and recording, after Download and Switzerland last week we have now entered what will be the longest period we've ever had of not playing shows. Feels weird man! By the time our september tour comes round we are going to be desperate to play live again. If you haven't got a ticket yet (for some reason) then stop waiting and get one now. We're planning for the tour while we write and from supports to the show itself, it's going to be the best set of shows we've ever done. if you're planning on coming go add your selves up to the Facebook event page
Everything is getting really hectic right now, the next year and a half of our lives is being planned out, and we can't wait to finish this album up, hit the road and start the whole process again. Bear with us while we slip under the radar for a while, we'll do some video blogs and stuff like that to keep you guys in the loop while we're away, and come see us at a show later this year.
Thank you for sticking with us so far everyone. With a bit of luck and some more focus and hard work, this is only the beginning.
Lots of love
Gustav
