A Prayer for Earthday 2020
Adapted by Carl Sunshine from the lyrics for Asher Yatzar by Rabbi Josh Warshawsky.
Today for us is a new day on earth.
Let us live it in awe, And wonder
How everything works.
Should the trees cease to grow,
Should the sun cease to glow,
Should our hearts cease to beat...
We thank you again and again,
That our world is complete.
I can think, I can breathe,
I can hope, I can sneeze,
I can laugh, I can cry, I can pray...
For the wonder each day,
For the strength come what may,
For the power to say:
Blessed are You, G-d, Who has formed man with wisdom,
and commanded us to be stewards of the Earth.
Lag Ba’Omer DPL Sponsored Evening of Storytelling
We are looking forward to seeing your faces on Monday evening, May 11th for our Virtual Lag Ba’Omer Zoom storytelling event! You are encouraged to share:
1) a song or short piece of instrumental music
2) a Jewish folk tale, joke, or story from your ancestors.
3) A teaching on "Something We Learned During Quarantine,"
as it relates to receiving the Torah on Shavuot.
Please RSVP soon if you would like to share, because space is limited.
A zoom link to the event will be sent out next week.
Co-coordinated by Michelle Wolf and Deborah Blum, DPL co-chairs.
Rabbi Jonathan Sacks has made an important point about the need to daven at the same time as the community, even if one is davening alone. We include a Shabbat Davening Schedule that you can follow at home.
