Issue #133------August 2016
So...Summer's almost over, which means the kids will be back in school soon, the weather will be cooler (I hope, I hope!) and if it hasn't already, Christmas sewing will soon commence! (if it hasn't already).
It also means I ought to be close to releasing a brand new pattern for Fall Quilt Market, right?
Speaking of which, I better get back to work, so go ahead and get started without me, & I'll catch up with you at the end!  :)

Cheryl Maass of Goodyear, AZ is back with yet another Quattro, and this time she’s combined her love of Paris with her fascination with butterflies and the result is just lovely!

Mandy Mitchell of the UK used fabric from the incomparable Jane Sassaman and the results are stunning on her new Walkabout Wallet!

And this is Therese Weyland‘s version of our Walkabout Wallet. She says its the perfect size to qualify as her everyday PURSE! It’s just big enough to hold everything she needs!

And Rebekah Harris (from upstate SC) is a music lover and loves incorporating musical themes into the things she sews for herself! I love the clef fabric she used to embellish her Cosmo Convertible. Here's a peek at how it looks being carried as a cross-body bag!

And isn’t this DittyRoo darling? Nicky Hoewener-Townsend of Suffolk, UK so enjoyed making it that she’s already planning to make another as a Christmas gift for someone special!

And Linda Teufel of Columbus, OH said she’s REALLY enjoying the compliments she keeps receiving when she carries her amazing Walkabout Wallet! She says she uses it regularly in lieu of her big bag!

And here’s a color combination I’ve seldom seen used in a bag but it’s it striking? Mary-Lou Wightman of Surry, BC, CANADA said she picked up this fabric while traveling thru Moab, UT and that it “begged” to be made into a Quattro!

And last but certainly not least this month is this fun & funky HipBag Hybrid by Danette Stankovich. She said she’s getting a LOT of usage out of it this summer and especially enjoys being able to clip it securely to her bicycle!

I first saw Rana Heredia's work last Fall at Quilt Market and was immediately intrigued! I think you'll appreciate see ing her approach to quilting which is modern with just a touch of the traditional! And here's the thing... there seems to be something for everyone! My favorite of Rana's quilt patterns is Streak of Lightning, but there's also cool pattern for softies, home decor, and much MORE!

According to a recent article in the NY Times, the problem of cats overeating that living indoors suppresses cats’ natural hunting instincts. This dynamic has increasingly come to light at the professional conferences she has attended in her 16 years as a veterinarian. She has also discussed it with animal behaviorists and animal nutritionists.
“They need portion control. They need regular exercise. They really should be in charge of their own feeding schedule,” Dr. Bales says she has learned. “All these factors boil down to cats should not be eating from bowls.”  {Click HERE to read more!}

Question of the Month- Why Does My Cat Sleep on my Head?
If you’ve ever gone to sleep with a cat at your feet, there’s a fairly good chance you’ve woken up with your face enveloped by a tummy of fur. Although your bed is large enough to afford the both of you ample resting space, your cat has no doubt shown a preference for setting up camp right on top of your head. Your feline friend’s behavior may be vexing, but don’t be so quick to assume that he’s trying to do you in. In fact, the reason behind this quirk could be fairly simple.        {Click HERE to read more!}
