Dear Friends,
As many of you know I have jumped in with both feet to the DUP Community, joining the board for both DUP International and DUP North America. One of my roles with DUPNA is working on its newsletter committee, with our Executive Director Jennifer Friedman putting in a tremendous amount of time to bring it to life.

Some of you may have already received this announcement through DUPNA's email list, but I am sharing it with you here in hopes that some of you will be inspired to join our nationwide conversation on the future of DUP in North America, both online on Saturday, September 21, and in person at our event at The Farm Community, November 1-3. I hope to see you there!

Dear Friends,

Some primary goals of our organization are to:
  • Be a supportive resource for our beloved community
  • Facilitate connection and collaboration among circles, leaders and dancers
  • Empower and encourage the Next Gen of dancers and Dance leaders
  • Promote awareness so that our tradition may thrive long into the future
And, if we work to accomplish these goals, we will all flourish together to manifest peace and healing during these important times.

As the country where the Dances originated, North America has by far the largest number of circles and Dance leaders in the world, and our founding generation and DUP wisdom keepers are in their twilight years. Additionally, during the pandemic, over 100 circles in North America disbanded and have not returned.
One very important question is:
How do we carry forward this practice to future generations?

We at DUPNA believe our Dance circles can be interconnected links in a chain of strength and beauty that is much more powerful than any of us can be on our own. It is this unity that will carry the Dances of Universal Peace long into the future.

We invite you to join us as we talk about how we can best accomplish these goals during our DUPNA Community Conversation on Zoom Saturday, September 21st, where we will vision and prepare for our coming together November 1-3 for our 1st Annual North American Dance Weekend.

Our Conversation will be hosted by members of the DUPNA board and staff and is a space for you to learn more, ask questions and share your input on how we can best support the current and future needs of Dance circles, leaders, organizers, and dancers in our region.
