Hi Friend of PST, We are writing to let you know about a couple of upcoming events and a change in our reservation policy.

A great big thank you to everyone who came out to the 10/7 Urban Tellers, "The Choices We Make." You were a marvelous audience and your openness and receptivity really helped our tellers to shine. Thank you!

After giving it quite a bit of thought, we have decided to initiate a change in our reservation policy.
Beginning with the 11-11-11 Urban Tellers, we are going to require all reservations to be paid in advance through Brown Paper Tickets. The ticket price for the Urban Tellers series will still be $10, plus a small fee to Brown Paper, for a total cost of $11.34.
Don't worry, you can still pay at the door. But the price at the door for all Urban Tellers will be $15, cash only.
With the exception of our fundraisers, all other shows (including Shackleton, Kiss & Tell, Singlehandedly) will continue to be only $15 in advance (plus tickets fees) and $20 at the door, cash only.
Thanks for understanding! We hope this will discourage last-minute cancellations and no-shows. This will help us to better manage our reservations so that fewer people are disappointed when they can't get a ticket to a show.

Speaking of the next Urban Tellers, 11/11/11 is going to be an amazing show!!
We have just started working with the next group of tellers and already the stories are unfolding and the energy is off the charts. And on such an auspicious and mystical date, well, anything could happen...
Lynn Fitch, Karen Landey, Hellen Villalobos, Tom Frisch, Cathey Armillas and Lacey Mulford are definitely going to rock the house!
Please make your reservations sooner rather than later; this one is certain to sell out.

On October 28 and 29, 2011 celebrate the transformative power of Halloween by listening to spellbinding stories at The John Palmer House. This special fundraiser, in its third year, is hosted by Maggie Kolkena and Susan Dunn, with performances by Portland Story Theater's Lawrence Howard, Penny Walter, Lynne Duddy, and Ryan Wolf Stroud, with special guest Julie Strozyk.
Adults only: 21 and over. Costumes are encouraged. This is a fundraiser, so bring your checkbook to make additional contributions and to purchase items donated by Mississippi Avenue businesses, including delights from Mississippi Studios, Por Que No, Land Gallery and more...
About half the tickets have already been sold, so don't miss out -- Only fifty tickets will be issued each night to allow small groups of listeners to rotate through the different rooms of this gorgeously restored (and reputedly haunted!) house until all of the stories have been heard. (All new stories!)

Shackleton Returns!
In the beginning, there was Shackleton, the first in Lawrence Howard's Armchair Adventurer Series. Then there was Mawson's Mettle, followed by Polar Opposites, which will soon be available on CD.
This coming January, Portland Story Theater is proud to present the return of Shackleton's Antarctic Nightmare, the amazing and inspiring story of the 1914 voyage of The Endurance. Ernest Shackleton's dream of being the first to traverse the Antarctic continent became a nightmare when his valiant ship, The Endurance, was trapped in the pack ice of the Weddell Sea and crushed. The story of how he and the 27 men of the expedition survived on the ice and eventually came to safety is an epic tale of hardship and suffering; of courage, determination and fortitude.
If you missed it in 2009, or if you want to see it again, you are in luck. Tickets are on sale now

We are in the process of posting all the Urban Teller showcases to the website. The two most recent are already online.
We are working with our videographer, Aaron Hartling, and our audio expert, Josh Ellyson. Josh plans to help us get these on iTunes.
Some of these do contain explicit language, which has not been bleeped out.
