Car Share at Church Point & please respond by 25^th May

Do you want to be involved in a cheap, convenient and easy way to help reduce our parking stress at Church Point?

No, we're not suggesting you give up the convenience and flexibility of having a car whenever you need it.

We're suggesting a car share scheme & a pool of shared cars with guaranteed parking spaces at Church Point. If you don't use your car every day, it's cheaper, greener and less hassle than owning a car. (See outline below).

Would you be interested in joining such a scheme? If so, we need to know by 25^th May so we can approach Pittwater Council with a viable case for setting up a scheme at Church Point (and possibly Mona Vale). We are currently researching various commercial schemes available in Sydney, aiming to find the best one for our community.

What is "Care Share"?

• You join the car share scheme
• You book via the web or by phone
  • In advance or at the last minute
  • For as long as you like: an hour, a day or a week
  • Option of reduced rate hire cars for longer periods
• Unlock the car with a security key or card
• Drive wherever you like
• Return car to a guaranteed parking spot at Church Point (* subject to Council approval)
• You get an itemised monthly bill

What are the benefits?

• 60% - 40% cheaper than owning a car (figures based on other schemes)
• You don't pay for petrol, insurance, rego, repairs, cleaning & nor for the purchase cost & they are all included.
• Have a guaranteed parking space at Church Point day, night and weekends!!*
• Potentially have a range of vehicles to choose from
  • eg. small car, station wagon, ute, people mover
• Use new cars which are safe and fuel efficient
• Reduce your environmental footprint
• You could get rid of your car or second car, and have the money back
• Potential to remove 5-10 cars from the Church Point car park per car in the car share scheme (based on experience of other commercial schemes)

How much does it cost?

• Existing schemes offer
  • between $4.40 to $7.00 per hour, plus 25c to 37c per km
  • between $45 to $70 per day, including up to 150km free
  • depending on level of membership
• Don't forget you're not paying all those hidden costs (rego, insurance, fuel etc)
• So a typical trip to Mona Vale for 2 hours would be about $12.50.
