Hello, Firstname |
|
|
Next Wednesday, 6 April, we get the chance to see a selection of the accepted prints from the 2022 Southampton International Exhibition. These will be presented by the exhibition chair, Sue Sibley and for those of us who can remember Sue's previous presentations, it will be interesting to see if she has managed to get her tongue around some of the more difficult overseas names with more success. As with the Bristol Salon presentation, this will give you the chance to see some of the best prints in the world.

Print Competitions - Orphan Prints |
With limited numbers attending Unit 13 in person, we are accumulating quite a lot of prints around the stage from past competitions. If you have uncollected prints, it will be helpful if you can arrange for someone to pick them up on your behalf. In the meantime, prints will be kept safe for collection upstairs in the Other Room. After a decent period, abandoned orphans may be removed for recycling.

Fed up with muddy looking prints that lack depth. Come along and find out how printing on the right papers and using the correct settings can make a difference to the quality of your prints. This is a chance to meet an acknowledged expert in this field. DON’T MISS IT!
Thanks

On Tuesday 5 April at 7.00pm we welcome Tim Jones from Fotospeed who will present an evening entitled Demystifying Printing with Tim Jones.
Tim will take you through the basics of printing your own photographs at home starting with an introduction on colour management and the steps you will need in place to achieve great prints on Fotospeed papers including Black and Whites. Tim will also take you through proofing ideas for your prints on screen via soft proofing and also illustrate Tim's preferred technique of printing a test print. The evening finishes with a talk on choosing the right paper for your pictures and what to look out for when choosing a paper.
There will be discounts available on all Fotospeed papers.

A MARVELLOUS THEATRE EVENT you don’t want to miss
After numerous requests we have brought back the amazing photographer, Mike Kwasniak FRPS, who will bring us stories of dealing with whatever obstacles, however dark the lighting conditions, or how frenzied the action, “you still have to get a good picture”.
In his presentation Mike will share some of his spectacular images along with a little bit of theatre history, an illustration of the challenges, a few anecdotes, a bit of gossip, a horror story or two, a peek inside his camera bag and an explanation of his nail-biting path to becoming an FRPS.
This promises to be very different and supremely entertaining.
A Shot in the Dark, Sunday 10 April, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
YOUR BOOKING CONFIRMATION WILL HAVE A PDF DOCUMENT ATTACHED CONTAINING A LINK TO THE EVENT AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOW TO JOIN THE MEETING.
Non-members wishing to participate must register a no-fee account with the RPS to obtain tickets.

Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue
