Hello Firstname

Wednesday 7 March

Next week we welcome Martin Fry FRPS EFIAP/s EFIAP-AV ABPE APAGB, who will be presenting his talk called The Cotswold Lad returns.

Martin just likes capturing that magical moment from the rolling hills of the Cotswolds to the drama of the Cornish Coast. One of the leading exponents of audio-visual in the country, his passion stems from a love of photography and combining images, in particular the ‘third’ image.
He feels audio-visual is such a creative medium, enabling the photographer to celebrate their passion through this art form.

Martin is an Honorary Life member of Cheltenham Camera Club, a member of the Cheltenham International Salon and on the committee of the RPS AV Group. He has lectured to over 300 clubs across Britain and is well known as an International judge in all areas of photography.

Since retiring as a Headteacher, four years ago, Martin has been on the FIAP Salon and BPE trail, gaining over 200 awards and some 3000 acceptances in 40 countries. At the same time  achieving his AV-EFIAP distinction. Tonight, the Cotswold Lad Returns as he takes us on that journey from Artist to Excellence or is it accident to emergency through his images and audio-visuals!

WCPF Members' Exhibition - A Reprieve!
Because of the weather, the WCPF Council Meeting has been postponed, which means that Danny Heaton won't be taking your prints to the WCPF. Swaps: Photographs from the David Hurn Collection. Until 15 April at the National Museum, Cardiff. This exhibition celebrates the major gift of photographs from David Hurn’s private collection and marks the opening of Amgueddfa Cymru’s first gallery dedicated to photography.
Throughout his career as a documentary photographer and member of Magnum Photos, Hurn has been an avid collector of photography. Remarkably, he has amassed his private collection by swapping works with other photographers.
The collection comprises approximately 700 photographs by leading 20th and 21st century photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Eve Arnold, Sergio Larrain, Bill Brandt, Martine Franck, Bruce Davidson and Martin Parr, through to emerging photographers such as Bieke Depoorter, Clementine Schneidermann, and Newsha Tavakolian.
The exhibition presents a selection of works that reflect on Hurn’s own career and influences, his eye for a good photograph and the friendships he has developed with photographers along the way.

ITS NOT PARTICULARLY EASY FINDING "DATES FOR YOUR DIARY", SO I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF MEMBERS COULD LET ME KNOW OF ANY EVENTS, EXHIBITIONS OR PICTURE LOCATIONS THAT THEY THINK WOULD BE OF INTEREST. DATES AND WEB LINKS WOULD HELP

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Studio Bookings
Would all members please note: before you plan your shoot and book your model, you should check whether the studio/clubroom will be free. This can be done easily and at any time by viewing the Clubroom Bookings calendar in the Members' Area of the BPS Website. Bookings can (and must) be made by contacting Mike Bigger at bookings@bristolphoto.org.uk.
Log in details to the Members' Area are at the end of this newsletter.

Items For Sale
If you have something photographic that you want to sell, let me have the details and I will circulate them to a captive audience of photographers through the Newsletter - send to the usual address.

Photographic Acronyms
