INVITE: Interfaith press conference on Donald Trump and upcoming Palestine protest march

11 December 2017

Members of the media are invited to an interfaith press conference tomorrow (Tuesday 12 December 2017) at 6 Spin Street in Cape Town starting at 14h00.

Representatives from various faiths will outline their position on the recent announcement by the Trump administration regarding Israel. Last week Trump, in defiance of the international community, undermined International Law by recognising Jerusalem (a Palestinian city of Palestinian Christians, Muslims and Jews) as the capital of Israel and the site for the construction of a new US Embassy.

Actions and other events have and are being organised in protest of Trump's announcement and in support of the ANC downgrading the SA Embassy in Tel Aviv. Details regarding a Palestine protest march to Parliament will also be announced and shared with members of the media.

Reverend Thulani Ndlazi, the General Secretary of the SA Synod of the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa, which is one of several churches that have issued statements on the issue, will be present at the press conference.
