Hi Friends,
Spring is such a busy time and there is so much going on here right now. Coming up on May 12, The Farm School Family Fest features the first public pizza served hot from the new cob oven constructed during last year's natural building workshops. I can hardly wait!
This year's Conference on Community and Sustainability features a powerful lineup of workshop leaders taking on some of the most important subjects of our time and issues critical for learning how to live and work together. |
Join members of Swan Trust as we do clean up at our 20 acre Langford Branch property that lies adjacent to a state highway, a site preserved to protect a federally endangered plant.
I am excited to be hosting my first Organic Gardening Intensive June 3-10. Folks are also welcome to come just for the weekend June 8-10. We combine hands-on gardening with classes and visits to gardens and CSA's in the area.
No time to write more. To quote Joni Mitchell, "Got to get back to the garden!" |

The Pizza Oven at Farm School Family Fest
Cob is a building material consisting of a mixture of clay and straw. Clay ovens have been around for centuries and we are excited to deliver our first pizzas served hot and fresh from the new oven built adjacent to The Farm School during this year's
Farm School Family Fest.
The fire will be lit around noon, taking several hours to reach 600 degrees inside, the desired temperature to bake a pizza in just 3 minutes!
Of course there will also be fun and games for the kids, tours, music, a talent show and more! It's a great weekend to come see The Farm!

Swan Trust's Annual Stream Clean Up May 19
Swan Trust owns a 23-acre State Natural Area alongside Langford Branch and Highway 412
that protects a special seep habitat, home to the federally
endangered Tennessee Yellow-eyed Grass, (Xyris tennesseensis). This
rare plant has only been found in Tennessee in the seeps of Lewis
County.
With
portions of the property and creek running
adjacent to a busy highway,
the area is plagued with litter. Swan Trust
sponsors regular clean up
campaigns to bag trash and preserve the
integrity of the stream. After the clean up we'll provide lunch and each participant will receive a cap or t-shirt.
