The energy is building for our fall dance with Grace Marie. A huge thank you to all who have registered and to you who still plan to come.

The DUP Caravan in Turkey was such a wonderful experience, truly over the top. I made a 100 new friends from all corners of the world, chanted Zikr late into the night in a neighborhood Dargha, and kissed the hand of Rumi's 23rd generation granddaughter, the chair of the International Mevlana Foundation. Check out some of the pictures below.

On January 24-27, I will join my dance mentor, Sky Roshay, down near the Tulum pyramid in Mexico's Yucatan, for a camp called "The Center of Heart, The Heart of Center."

Then we'll head north to meet dance leader Bernie Heideman in Puerto Morellos, Mexico, a sleepy beach town that has been home to an annual dance gathering for 20 years! This will be the third time for Deborah and I. More details on both events below.

If all goes according to plan, we'll have Bernie visit The Farm next April!

I hope to see you soon!

Turkey Caravan!

We spent the first 5 days at an ecovillage overlooking the Maramar Sea.
There were over 100 people from 21 countries singing and dancing together for peace.
The Capadocia region was incredible, so ancient.
The Sufi Sema
In  the city of Konya, known for the poet Rumi, a mystic music festival showcased incredible performers from around the world.  After the concert was over, we danced in an amphitheater outside the auditorium, attracting a good number of local folks to join us in chanting, "La ilaha il Allah!"!

  THE CENTER OF THE HEART,
  THE HEART OF THE CENTER
           Jan 24 - 27, 2020
      Akumal, Yucatan, Mexico

A Dance and deepening retreat with Sky Roshay and Glenda Taylor at Organic Yoga Mexico, a retreat center in Akumal (near Tulum).

Where is our center, and how do we find it in times of stress and turmoil? How do we connect to our heart and move from there as much as possible? What do we need right now to support that within us? Morning and evening Dances, meditation, conversation, introspective inquiry, experiential practices and ceremony, with plenty of afternoon time for relaxing and enjoying the beach or the hammocks. The flow will be guided by our collective wisdom and needs as the weekend unfolds.

The retreat starts Friday, January 24 at dinner, and ends with lunch on Monday, January 27. All vegetarian meals, and one seafood dinner, are included. Akumal is just down the coast from Puerto Morelos, with plenty of time to get there for the start of the Winter Dance Camp. You fly into Cancun and take the ADO bus to Playa and change to a colectivo to Akumal, or you can rent a car or reserve a van shuttle.

YOU NEED A PASSPORT TO ENTER MEXICO.  CHECK YOUR PASSPORT'S EXPIRATION DATE. There are sometimes issues if your passport will expire within 6 months of your travel dates.

20th Winter Camp in Puerto Morelos Mexico
Jan 31 - Feb 7, 2020

The camp starts at 7 PM on January 31st and ends on Feb 7 around
noon. Two extra Dance evenings on Jan 30 and Feb 7.

Bernie writes, "The camp is a great break from winter.  The main leaders will be Bernie Heideman and Sky Roshay with an assist from other leaders from around the world who attend.  We will also have a special guest leader for several days at the beginning of the camp.

"These camps have been great fun with lots of extra singing and other offerings.  There is snorkeling right from the beach or from boats that travel to the reef just offshore. (Sky: "great restaurants and ice cream too!")

"The camp costs $250 and includes a catered lunch on the first afternoon of the camp.  You are responsible for your room and board and travel. I am booking
rooms at Gota de Sal (where we dance).  A room for 1 or 2 is $63/night .  The rooms are clean and remodeled about 2 years ago, have air conditioning and a bathroom but no kitchenette (most if not all the rooms have a small fridge).

"There are lots of other places nearby.  Let me know if you want a list of more recommendations or want to reserve a room at Gota (no deposit needed for the room but deposit for the camp is needed ($100/person) to reserve one of those rooms).  Some people rent multiple room condos. You will be happier having a room near the beach and within 4 blocks of the town square.  Some rooms that show up on an internet search are in the "colonia" which is about 3 km from the beach and more hassle for travel and possibly more noise.

"Allow yourself some extra time before and/or after the camp to hang out or travel to the many interesting Mayan ruins, eco parks, colonial cities, etc around the Yucatan. (Sky: "or just hang out in Puerto Morelos, a lovely village where you can walk almost everywhere and it's all close to the beach.")

"You will fly into Cancun and take a bus or cab to Puerto Morelos, about
20km south of Cancun.

"My work the last few years has centered on choosing to be in the heart
and inviting joy into my life.  We will continue this work together in Mexico."
