Karen Poon is one of our most active and versatile Project Leaders. Karen has volunteered at 16 different L.A. Works managed projects and frequently supports us at events, committee meetings and social gatherings!! As the leader of the Crafts with Kids @ Gramercy Place project, Karen contributes her postive, easy-going leadership style along with fun and creative activities for youth and volunteers alike. Project Spotlight: Modern House Call for Women


This October’s Make a Difference Weekend, L.A. Works coordinated hundreds of volunteers for the Modern House Call for Women, an event which provided physical and mental care for thousands of uninsured or underinsured women. The Modern House Call kicked off a series of events leading up to Tuesday's 10th Annual Women's Conference, which Maria Shriver has built into a star-studded showcase of women movers and shakers. UBS Goes to Hollywood: Action Shots
More than 150 UBS employees spent a Saturday in October adding some color and elbow grease to a Title 1 school in Hollywood.  One volunteer shared of their experience: "It is always a nice feeling to give back. BusinessWorks Buzz: Kaiser Community Service Week
Kaiser Permanente employees from Pasadena and Corona offices will be spending the week prior to Thanksgiving, giving back to their LA community. A few of the activities for Kaiser volunteers include: cooking meals for the women at the Downtown Women’s Center, refurbishing and repairing wheelchairs at UCP Wheels for Humanity, and donating and sorting food for the Aids Project LA. Spontaneous Emergency Volunteer
As a designated Emergency Volunteer Center (EVC), L.A. Works will play a lead role in communicating with and coordinating 'spontaneous' volunteers who come forward to help in an emergency or disaster. If you are interested in being a part of our EVC Team (and be on the inside to help us set-up and operate an EVC), please come to one our upcoming EVC Orientations on Dec. 4 or Dec. 21.  MORE >>>
 
 
Downtown Women's Center             Are you looking for an opportunity get more involved with the community? Have you considered leading a project but don't know where to get started? If you've answered yes, consider becoming a project leader for Donation Sort @ Downtown Women's Center! L.A. Skills-based Opportunity: Marketing
Join our Marketing Department to build L.A. Works’ brand reputation and awareness. Volunteers are needed to help research prospective leads for corporate sponsorship, identify target media/opportunities, and database maintenance. Experience will also include social media outreach, creating testimonial marketing material, administrative assignments, and possibly attending occasional events. MORE >>>
