Newsletter for Offshore Residents of Pittwater, Australia Volume 7, Issue 92; September 2005 |
|
Hello
Everyone, Pittwater Council’s Social Planner, Simone Shaw, desires to construct/formulate an arts and cultural vision for Pittwater and because she is bereft of an artistic sensibility herself (her own assessment), she needs some help. To this end, she will be convening a conversation between resident creative types in the municipality in early October. She has approached our own Nettie Lodge to kick off the session with a short performance piece to stimulate the discussion. Here is the proposal: *The performance will be a short piece performed by Scotland Islanders/Western Foreshore residents on Thursday 6 October at 6:00 pm *It will be a scene from the play Hotel Sorrento, by Hannie Rayson (Act 2: Scene 11). *The scene is a conversation between four women, two men and a teenager about Australia’s cultural landscape. Is Australia a cultural and artistic backwater? Well let’s see…. *Jacquie Tenure, an Island cinematic director, will direct the scene. She will be holding open auditions at 2:00 pm, this coming Sunday, 11 September at the Scotland Island Community Hall. Come along and try out for a part. Needed are: Four females, aged between 30 and 50 Two males, aged between 35 and 50 One teenage male. Come prepared with a monologue or a perhaps poem you can act out. This is a chance to demonstrate to the whole of Pittwater what an abundance of talent there is here. So…. See you there Gordon Floyd SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION:To get on and off this newsletter, or to change your options, - click here or got to: http://www.scotlandisland.org.au/signup The views expressed in this newsletter are not necessarily the views of the Scotland Island Residents Association (SIRA), or any of the associated Pittwater Offshore Resident's Committees |
