Principal Notes
Prom went smoothly and I have not heard of anything major going on after prom. That is a huge success.
Events tonight include:
1. FFA is presenting to the School Board at the farm on 56th st.
2. Band has their performance tonight at the Dogwood at 7:00

Good news!
1. We were awarded the Evergreen Award for Green Schools this year. It is the highest award the environmental organization can give. Rachel Jaunese has been instrumental in making all of the recycling events run smoothly. She deserves all the credit for this award!
2. US News came out with their top high schools and we were in the nationally ranked section as well as the ranked Michigan section. We were 127 in the Michigan section out of 700. We want to be in the top 75 next year. There is a heavy ranking on AP classes and not college classes. If the rank included college classes, we’d be tough to beat.
3. Once again the Industrial Arts program and students dominated their regional MITES competition by taking 22 first place awards out of only 47 categories. There were also 12 second place finishes. Ben DeWeerd took home the Grand Champion Award for the best project in the region. Rick Tank runs an incredible program. I’ll get Rick to send me some pictures so all of you furniture lovers can admire their work. It all looks unattainable to me as I know it would last less than one day in my house with my children. Their mother blames me for playing soccer in the house with them but I disagree with her assessment. I see it as making a healthy choice by keeping the kids out of the sun.
Here are the top finishers (some are listed multiple times because multiple projects qualified):
