Release & Readings for Joan Kwon Glass's

Daughter of Three Gone Kingdoms was released on September 24!

Here's what Su Cho wrote about
 Daughter of Three Gone Kingdoms:

In September, Joan Kwon Glass presented Daughter of Three Gone Kingdoms at the Institute Library in New Haven, CT and at the Firehouse Gallery in Milford, CT. She has many events lined up for October, including a reading at McNally Jackson Seaport on October 4, a workshop with Brooklyn Poets on October 6, a virtual reading with 100 Pitchers of Honey on October 15, a panel at the Boston Book Festival on October 26, and a reading at Books are Magic on 10/28.

We're especially excited to announce that on October 18, Joan Kwon Glass will visit Western, MA to read for students at the Care Center in Holyoke during the day and with Perugia board member Yasotha Sriharan and award-winning poet Kirun Kapur at 7pm that evening. That Perugia event on 10/18 will be held at CLICK Workspace in Northampton and is free and open to the public. Hope you can join us - details below!

Emerging BIWOC Poet Spotlight

September 2024 Poet: Grace H. Zhou

O Taraxacum

We dig and spray your dogged crawl
of taproots and rhizomes. Pull up anchors
once cast at full mast. Uproot old
dreams of gold, god and utopia.
Bayonet roots. Sail-to-a-new-world
roots. False-destiny, deny-the-invasion roots.
We weed and weed and weed.

But the earth takes and the earth gives
back, from this blood-
drunk loam she makes her own balm,
takes your sharp-toothed leaf
for bitter comfort, makes milk
root into black brew. See,

we are the weeds.
In waste places, on broken
soil, let us learn
how to tread softly,
how to bloom in the millions,
how to take root anew.
