Howdy Friends and Family,
I just returned home from southern Indiana and the 25th anniversary celebration of Heartwood, a group that works to protect forests throughout that region. Got to jam with old friends—eco-troubadours Danny Dolinger and Robert Hoyt—and catch up with a lot of friends in Indiana.
Now I'm starting to pack up for a busy summer of touring throughout Washington, Oregon, and Alaska. See the calendar of shows at the end of the newsletter to see if I'll be in your neck of the woods!
Exploding Oil Train Tour
Columbia River Gorge
In late June I’ll be singing a few shows in the spectacular Columbia River Gorge area to raise awareness about the explosive oil trains coming through our region. Bakken crude oil, obtained by fracking in North Dakota, is extremely volatile and threatens to blow up entire communities (the blast zone is one half mile on both sides of the tracks). What a terrific idea. And they are hauling these “bomb trains” all over the U.S. and Canada.

I'm honored to be touring with labor singer and all-around wonderful person Anne Feeney this July in Washington and Oregon. In addition to songs, jokes, and stories, we’ll be talking about how the Labor and Environmental movements can find common ground and work together.
Unitarian General Assembly in Portland, Oregon
I'm honored to be performing at a Public Witness Event of the Unitarian General Assembly in Portland, OR on June 27 with a delegation from the Lummi Indian Nation. We will be speaking and singing about fossil fuel exports through Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia, and their effect on the environment and us all. The Public Witness Event is at 4:45pm on Saturday, June 27th and is free and open to the public.
Alaska Tour: Late July and August
I’m thrilled to be returning to the Chuitna River to continue work on stopping the proposed Chuitna River mine. (See Salmon Come Home video below). I’m looking for concerts, fundraisers, and house concerts throughout Alaska. Please contact me if you have a concert idea: dana@cowswithguns.com
