RECAP

SOJOURNERS SOCIAL JUSTICE SUMMIT:
Preparing to wrap up a day of talks about Racial Reconciliation with a concert on the night of the Charleston shooting. A sobering evening w/ Arsena Schroeder. hear clip

ESCAPE TO THE LAKE: Spent a weekend in Williams Bay, WI playing an annual event hosted by Under the Radar Radio. It doubled as a 3-day festival and conference  I had the opportunity to connect with artists from across the country, open for SHEL, and Burlap to Cashmere, and be on a few panels including this one - Perspiration vs. Inspiration: the process of staying creative.

FH: Missed the video I put out last month with footage from my trip to the Dominican Republic with FH? Watch here.

NEW MEDIA
DOING ART: While in NYC last May, I did a podcast episode with Lorens Chuno of Doing Art. We recorded it in my car while waiting for our set at Rockwood Music Hall! :) We covered everything under the sun in an hour-long discussion about music, parents, social media, and Orange is the New Black...which i thought was a reference to clothing options. #noclue Listen here :)

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Hard to believe that we are halfway through the summer already! This past month has probably been the most rewarding of the year as I’ve had the opportunity to attend a handful of non-traditional music events that have left me feeling encouraged and inspired to make better art. These are the things that really keep me going!

The highlight for me was participating in Sojourners Magazine’s Social Justice Summit in Washington, D.C. It was a monumental gathering of activists, politicians, and artists from all across the country which sadly and coincidentally began on the night of the Charleston, SC shooting. So you can imagine the significance of the weekend? This and a few other highlights from June and early July are pictured to the left.

JUMPING BACK INTO TOURING
This past month I also had the privelege of hosting a house concert in my house! I don’t get to do this often, but when I do, I’m reminded of why I love music so much - it brings people together from all different lifestyles, backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities. Everyone loves art! So...while I’ve mostly stayed close to home this summer and focused more on writing, it’s time to get out there and begin planning for the fall. So here goes...
  • house concerts: if you would like to host something in your own home, or have questions, let me know. I love house concerts. You love music. Together we make the perfect couple :)

  • colleges: Tis’ my favorite part of the fall! Students, if your Student Activities board is beginning to plan its programming for this semester, please let me know or reach out directly to my booking agency.

  • midwest tour: i’ll be back in the Midwest this October. I plan to hit up a few regular venues that I’ve visited in the past, and new ones as well. If you would like to book something through your neighborhood venue, church, or DIY space let me know!
