NEWS FOR CAT LOVERS
===================================

If you've been following our newest rescue kitty,
Fluffy, here are the results of his New Name Contest:

http://loveablecat.blogspot.com

The name that won with the most votes was "Gus,"
which turns out to be short for Asparagus, as well
as Augustus, sent in by another reader.

The winner, who submitted the winning name (Asparagus),
gets a free copy of my book, 7 Steps to 9 Lives. Way
to go, Jean, and thank you.

All who submitted names won "honorable seconds"
and my report, 7 Feline Mysteries. If you submitted
a name and did not get your email with the link, email
me and I'll send it again.

Now here's a nice gesture: A wealthy investor in
Arizona funded a new animal shelter... in his wife's
name as a birthday gift!

Sonia Breslow of Phoenix is an animal lover and her
husband honored her with the shelter, which will help
the Arizona Animal Welfare League double the rescue
work they do.

Here's the story:

-----------------------------

If you've ever wondered how much of a cat person you
are, here's a quiz you can take:

http://animal.discovery.com/games-quizzes/cat-people-quiz/

Be sure to answer each question as it comes up in order
to get the next question to show up.

TAKE ACTION TO HELP ANIMALS IN NEED
===================================
How to help animals:

1. http://www.hipaws.com/help.html
Help feed the ones that never got adopted.

2. Always remember to check with your local shelter
to see what they need. Your donation will go directly
to the animals, in sharp contrast to some of the large
national groups, whose donation income goes toward
large administrative salaries and other expenses, not
necessarily for animals.

3. This past year, the birth control drug called
FeralStat has been removed from the market and the
company's website has disappeared. This is bad news,
because it was being used quite successfully by groups
and individuals who were controlling feral cat colonies.

It's expensive and difficult to capture and transport
all the cats to a veterinary office to be spayed, neutered,
and vaccinated, then returned to their territory, where
they must be watched for signs of sickness or reactions
to the procedure.

The drug, FeralStat, is not perfect, but it gave many
people an affordable and safe way to manage the cats.

If you were using FeralStat, the company wants to know
about your experiences. Send an email to:

info @ WestlabPharmacy.com

Please don't write with any questions, complaints or
requests for help. They are only collecting facts at this
time to see if it's feasible to release the drug again.
