After
a long battle with illness, Ruth died peacefully
yesterday (1/6/21) with her family quietly supporting
her.
She
came to Pittwater from New Zealand with partner Graeme
Richmond, and bought a little pie shop in Dee Why,
building it up over four years. During that time
(1982) daughter Rana was born.
Together,
Graeme and Ruth rented in all the local bays and then
decided to build on Scotland Island. Preceding this
they had another baby, Nicole, who unfortunately died
upon birth. The community rallied, and Ruth forged
ahead with the start of a career in herbalism and
homeopathy, but her third baby also died at birth.
She concentrated on her studies, and passed all exams,
opening up a naturopathic practice in Wahroonga.
Then
along came Jake, a boisterous and happy baby.
Ruth
and Graeme were married in 1990 in Catherine Park, a
huge kiwi affair with beer and hangis to celebrate.
Ruth
returned to NZ and stayed for a few years before
coming back to Pittwater in the late ‘90s. She came
and went a couple of times before finally returning to
Sydney in 2017.
Ruth
is survived by daughter Rana, son Jake, their
respective partners Hayden and Eden, and grandchildren
Lachlan, Isla, Paytn, Macy and Luna.
We
will miss you Ruthie, Fly high and go in peace.
The
funeral will be on Tuesday, 8 June at 10 am, at
Frenchs Forest Bushland Cemetery, 1 Hakea Ave,
Davidson NSW 2085.
