Hello, Firstname

Wednesday 1 June

Next Wednesday, 1 June, we welcome George Robertson, who is coming all the way from  Scotland, to present his talk Into the Throne of the Mountain Gods. George describes his talk as follows:

My talk takes you on a journey into a remote, unique and rarely visited part of the world, the Karakoram mountains in Northern Pakistan. We will be following the route of the Baltoro Glacier, at 63km in length, it is one of the worlds longest glaciers outside of the polar regions.
Our journey will follow the glacier through some amazing landscapes into "The Throne room of the mountains Gods" at Concordia where we are surrounded by 4 of the worlds 14 - 8000m peaks. Our journey continues with an ascent of a high mountain pass, 5585m, to watch the sun rise over the Karakoram mountain range, and our route home.

The talk documents a challenging travel/mountaineering photography journey over three weeks, at high altitude.

About George

He is an award winning Photographer, International Mountain Leader and World Traveller based near Glasgow, Scotland. A member of Milngavie and Bearsden CC and The Scottish Photographic Circle. In 2017 and in 2020 his images won the Urban View category of Take a View, UK Landscape Photographer of the Year competition. A panel of images he submitted were also awarded DPAGB

He has been fortunate to visit many different remote and beautiful areas and gain a varied perspective on our planet whilst leading mountaineering expeditions. The beauty, remoteness and challenge of travelling in the high mountain areas has always attracted him. Through the interaction of the light with the natural landscape George has tried to capture his memories from these travels.

IMPORTANT CHANGES WHEN ATTENDING MEETINGS AT THE CLUBROOMS.

There is a change to the system for attending meetings at the clubrooms, as you will no longer need to pre-book your seat at the meeting. Instead of pre-booking, Members will be requested to sign-in on arrival. This will provide the means by which attendees can be contacted in the event of a Covid case being reported.

Trumpet Bowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue

Items For Sale
If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include it in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).

IMPORTANT: Personal Detail Changes
Please don't forget that if you change your address (home or email), or gain additional photographic distinctions, it would be appreciated if you could let the Membership Secretary know so that she can keep her records up to date, this will also ensure that you continue to receive your newsletters - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk

The distinctions we have on record are those shown at the top of this newsletter, please remember, if you don't tell us we can't possibly know!

DO NOT REPLY TO THE NEWSLETTER.
