Franka De Mille
PERFORMS AT LONDON'S WATER RATS ON 9TH OCTOBER

Bridge The Roads’ delayed until 11th Feb 2013

The first, and only, independent artist to be selected for the British Phonographic Industry’s ‘Why Music Matters’ campaign (alongside Nina Simone, The Beatles, Kate Bush, Louie Armstrong, John Martyn, Nick Cave….), Franka De Mille has already received critical acclaim for her emotionally raw and elegant blend of Americana, Chamber music and neo-folk. Her focus on strong melodies underlines the powerful, emotional charge of her unique voice and personal lyrics.

De Mille has now confirmed a very special headline show at London's Monto Water Rats for 9th October.

With her deliberate use of violin, cello, accordion, mandolin and flute as ‘second voices’, adding a rich depth, and her creative clarity and expression having been compared to the likes of Patti Smith, Tori Amos, Kate Bush and PJ Harvey, De Mille remains both musically and vocally uncompromising.

From the harrowing experience documented in ‘So Long’, the mourning of her father in ‘Birds’ and the poignant confession to her sister, ‘Gare du Nord’, De Mille reveals her deepest emotions, and yet, through the messages of hope, ‘You’ll Never Know’ and ‘Come On’ her strength in adversity transcends toward the ultimate redemption, ‘Bridge the Roads’.

Franka’s touring band features some of the best British musicians around, led by musical director and guitarist Kevin Armstrong (who has worked with David Bowie, Brian Eno, Paul McCartney, Sinead O’Connor, Morrissey, Iggy Pop…and many more!)
