Afterschool Staff Needed for 2011-12 School Year

Neighborhood Learning Alliance (formerly Wireless Neighborhoods) is currently looking to fill a number of positions at their After-School Program sites for this upcoming school year, Including:

Site Coordinators - Neighborhood Learning Alliance, formerly Wireless Neighborhoods, is looking to hire three extremely qualified individuals to coordinate its afterschool programs at Pittsburgh School District middle and high schools. The positions will start off as part-time but may be increased to full-time depending on enrollment numbers at a particular site. The coordinator will be required to manage all aspects of the site operation including supervising staff, recruiting, enrolling and retaining participants, managing the academic instruction and recreation periods, creating and distributing weekly and monthly calendars, interacting with students, teachers, counselors and other school personnel during the school day (visiting the lunch room, sitting in on classes, attending teacher -- student conferences), obtaining and reviewing student transcripts, managing outside provider scheduling, collecting and entering data into the data management system, and generally ensuring the safety and security of all program participants. This position will report directly to the organization's Community LEARNS program director. ($15-17.50/hour)

JOB POSITIONS

Support StaffSeeking dynamic and energetic support staff for our 2011-12 school year after-school program sites located in various Pittsburgh Public Schools across the city. The responsibility of the support staff is to run and facilitate activities for our daily Middle and High School after-school programming sites. This includes overseeing transitions between activities, ensuring program culture is maintained, working with tutoring staff to ensure quality instruction, tracking and managing student paperwork, interacting positively with and being an advocate for Middle and High-school youth during and after the school day, and working with the Site Coordinator to plan and run the program and all corresponding activities. ($13-$15/hour)

JOB POSITIONS

After-School Tutors - Qualified and experienced academic tutors who are excited about working with middle and high-school youth, to staff the front lines of our after-school programming at various Pittsburgh Public Schools sites. The ideal After-School Tutor candidate(s) would have at least two years of prior tutoring/youth work experience, preferably hold/would currently be pursuing a degree in education/social work, has experience working with urban youth and a very strong understanding of a wide range of middle and/or high school academic content. All candidates must possess strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills. ($10-14/hour)
