RANGER REPORT & June 2, 2007 (finished June 5th)

The month of May saw the long-awaited return of Los Manatees to The Fitzwater Station (where we kept the rain at bay) and Crazy Carl's (we'll be back at Carl's on Fri., June 22 w/ The Rhino Horns).

On Sunday afternoon, June 10, we will begin our "Summer Sundays" at The Brick Tavern in Quakertown, PA www.thebricktaverninn.org . From 1:00-5:00pm we will be performing on their fabulous outdoor stage (weather permitting). We will be playing there every Sunday afternoon until the end of September (with the exception of The Fitzwater Station and The Bridgeport Rib-House shows). Founding Manatees member Ray Adkins reminded me that The Brick Tavern was the VERY FIRST PLACE he and I played together way back in 1985. The circle of life... What makes this Sunday afternoon concert a very special event is that my oldest daughter, Julia (Jules), will be attending (all the way from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)! Some of you may have heard our song, "Julia", which I wrote for her when she was just a little girl. (You can watch a video performance of it on our web-site.)

Way back in the mid-seventies, Manatees bassist/vocalist Randy Wagner and original Manatees drummer Myles Rothwell toured all over the American west with a band called The Great Wizard. A few weeks ago Randy and Myles reunited with the electric violinist from that band, Lynn Martin, and performed together with Los Manatees at The Dutch Tavern. The reunion show was recorded by Uncle Ronkle and filmed by current Manatees drummer Jim Cavanaugh. With his 5-string electric violin Lynn added a Jean-Luc Ponty flavor to the proceedings. Very nice.

On Wed., June 20, Los Manatees "acoustrio" will be returning to Revivals in Perkasie, PA for their "Welcome Summer" party. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Los Manatees would like to welcome Tom Musselman to our musical soup. Tom plays an African hand drum known as a djembe. He has been frequently sitting in with the band for the last few months. Hello Ras Tom!

And goodbye to all of you for now. See you at the shows!
