John 20:30-31 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
IS THE GLASS HALF-EMPTY OR HALF-FULL?
It is human nature to be curious. We'd like to know, for example, more about Jesus' childhood in Nazareth in Galilee. Who were his friends? How was it for them to interact with a perfect, sinless child? Were there signs of His divinity early on? All the Scripture says is that (Luke 2:51) "He went down to Nazareth and was subject to them."
Question: Why no more information?
Answer: This is all we need to know.
It isn't wrong to be curious. It's a good thing to ask questions and consider them. We just need to make sure that the conclusions we reach and the answers we put forward are taken from Holy Scripture alone. We have not been short-changed by our God. We have what we need to know. The Scriptures were not written to satisfy our curiosity, but to save our souls.
Yes, Jesus accomplished many other miracles not recorded in the Scriptures. The things that have been recorded by the Spirit of God have been preserved for a three-fold purpose: 1) so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (God's one chosen and anointed savior); 2) so that you may believe that Jesus is the Son of God; 3) so that by faith in Jesus Christ the God-man and all He has accomplished by His living and dying and rising, you may have eternal life (John 3:16)!
Is the glass half-empty or half-full? Our cup runs over.
Through the Scriptures we are offered, given, and sealed eternal life in Christ.
Christ is Risen!
