NSW ANTI-TRANS BILL REPORT: MAJOR PARTIES MUST END WAR ON TRANS YOUNG PEOPLE
Advocates have called on both major parties to condemn One Nation's war on trans and gender diverse young people following the release of a NSW Parliamentary report endorsing One Nation's anti-transgender education bill.
The report, released today, recommends a series of measures that advocates say will erase trans and gender diverse kids from classrooms and increase the discrimination, stigma and harm they already face.
Just.Equal Australia spokesperson, Dr Charlie Burton, said,
"The report's endorsement of One Nation's bill - the most anti-LGBTIQA+ legislation introduced in Australia this century - is a shameful day for the NSW Parliament."
"In an echo of the Thatcher-era Clause 28 law in Britain, the One Nation Bill introduced by Mark Latham seeks to erase trans and gender diverse young people from schools, and make life harder for all LGBTIQA+ youth."
"We call on both the Liberal and Labor parties to condemn this bigoted legislation and end this war on transgender young people."
"We thank those report panel members, Labor's Anthony D'Adam and the Greens' David Shoebridge, for their opposition to the Bill."
