John 2:11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

BEAUTIFUL SAVIOR

Here we learn another beauty from John about Jesus, for John tells us that when the disciples had witnessed this miracle of Christ and His kindness toward those who were in trouble, they believed on Him. We are not now to understand these words as such to say that the disciples never believed before, or had never had faith in Christ till now, for they certainly had to have faith before they could become disciples of the Lord and follow Him at all. But this last statement of John tells us that through seeing this miracle of Christ, their faith was strengthened and they became even more convinced of the fact that Christ was indeed the Savior and was able to carry out His great work of redemption.

These words remind us of another beauty, which consists therein that we need do nothing to be saved through Christ. God the Holy Spirit works in us so that we believe in Christ, who has done everything necessary for the eternal salvation of our body and soul.

Can you find a more beautiful Savior or a better Messiah? Scripture knows of none, and neither do we.

Beautiful Savior,
Lord of the nations,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor,
Praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be Thine!
(The Lutheran Hymnal, 657:4)
