Great Western Photography Exhibition

As you all may be aware, BPS is running a British Photographic Exhibition under the name Great Western Photographic Exhibition. Entry will be open on 15 July.

As with the Bristol Salon, helpers will be needed for the 11, 12 and 13 October when selection will take place. This will include help with catering, computers, ferrying selectors, "putting up and taking down" prints and other key activities.

Yes, it is a way off yet, but we need to plan ahead and be sure that everything is in place.

Steve Field has already had generous offers of help, but more is needed. Please email him at chairman@greatwesternphoto.co.uk with your offers of assistance.

Thanks

Steve Field - GWPE Chairman

Creative Competition - Closing Date Reminder
Closing date for the Creative Competition is 26 June. For the first time, we have an external judge, Phil Cooling FRPS, and so it will be particularly good to have a big, healthy entry – composites, ICMs, kinky penguins … all welcome. You can now enter up to four images in any permutation of PDIs and prints and the only person who can’t enter is last year’s winner. don’t forget to upload PDIs of your prints using this link:www.bristolphoto.org.uk/printsupload

The competition rules are shown here:

This is an open competition for up to four images which may be PDIs and/or prints. The Bob Faris Trophy will be awarded to the winner.  The winner of the trophy will not be eligible to enter the next year’s competition.

For this competition, a submitted image must have originated as a photographic image or images, produced either in camera or by post processing. All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. Artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated so long as the original photographic content predominates. Digital skills should be seen as the tools to compose photographic images into one new single image. The final composition will show the photographer’s artistic interpretation.
  1. This is an Open competition, with no levels of entry.
  2. Images may have been entered into any previous club competition, except for previous Creative competitions and may be entered into any subsequent bi-monthly or annual competition, except for subsequent Creative competitions.
  3. Each entrant may submit up to four images. These may be all PDI, all Print or any combination of the two.
  4. The judge will select a Best PDI, a Best Print and award the trophy to one of these two.
  5. The trophy winner will not be eligible to enter the next year’s Creative competition.

Nomad Print Boxes - Final Call
Mike Martin has been in touch with Nomad, and they have confirmed they have no plans to attend any of the usual photographic events in the near future, so he’s going to place an order online.

If anyone wants any print boxes, Mike is happy to place a group order and share out the delivery costs. If anyone is interested, have a look at the Nomad range here and let Mike know what you want by the close of play this Sunday, 16 June, when he’ll be placing his order.
