Learning, Giving, Getting- Energy Work in the Blueridge Mountains- An opportunity for personal and professional restoration.

April 21-24  I hope you will join me in the Blueridge Mountains for a 4-day Dynamic Energy Balancing® Retreat. The Retreat includes the Foundations course, Ethics, and an optional 1 hour Intro to the Realms for a total of 25 CE, so you can meet all your CE renewal requirements by attending the retreat. The course is for energy workers, so you need at least one prior course in energy work. If you don’t have that and you want to come, call me and we can discuss it. My minimum expectation for the class participants is that everyone already knows how to give some sort of energy work session; they already sense the flow of energy. We’ll be building on that. It’s a great class!

And to be surrounded by the beauty of the mountains will only enhance our work, and ease our hearts. We will share a welcome meal together Thursday evening. There is a big communal kitchen so you can buy your own groceries and prepare your meals the way you like the rest of the time we are there- or there are nearby eateries if you don’t like to cook. There are hot tubs- oh joy! The price includes lodging- only $675. And the location is very drivable!

Asheville, NC: 1 hour
Boone, NC: 2 1/2 hours
Charlotte, NC: 2 3/4 hours
Knoxsville, TN: 2 hours
Chatanooga, TN: 3 hours
Atlanta, GA: 2 1/2 hours
Columbia, SC: 3 hours

Pre-register by simply responding to this email with your name, address, and phone number and a note that you want to come to the class.

LOVE YOUR WORK!
Freedom Bodywork®

Exploring the work of Dr. Milton Trager:
Most of you know that my Freedom Bodywork® classes are based on my 30+ years in practice developing and evolving the teachings of Dr. Milton Trager. I can’t over emphasize the satisfaction and joy I get from receiving a Trager® session or from giving one. The idea of reaching the body through reaching the mind, which is done by evoking a pleasurable feeling state- Well that is quite different from other approaches to hands-on healing. Explaining what Trager is is like the 5 blind men describing an elephant. So if you would like to experience the work, come to my North Raleigh office in January or February for a session. Use this coupon code to get your session for only $100 instead of the usual price of $125: "TryTrager"  -Please give the code when booking your session.

Mentastics® are the part of the work that teaches you how to reach that pleasure, that peace, on your own. I teach Mentastics in my Freedom Bodywork classes, as stand-alone Mentastics classes, and in many of my classes as a self-care component.

Power vs Pain, a new one-day class in adding Muscle Recruitment Technique into your practice is also based on the teachings of Dr. Trager. In this case we ask the client to respond to a stimulus we give them.  Then we get them to refine their response- lighter, stronger, quicker, easier, slower- teaching the mind how to reconnect to the musculature. And in so doing, pain and tension slip away. The mind connects to the power of organized response through the muscles and wakes up! It really is amazing technique!

Help for Inflammatory Conditions:

I am also offering Bindegewebsmassage Basic Technique this spring. Just the one time this year. The technique is suited for medical massage practitioners, and those with private practices more so than spa work. It is a series of treatments given mostly with the client in a sitting position. BUT know this! It is incredibly potent- I have disappeared all kinds of gastro-intestinal chronic issues, menstrual problems, internal adhesions, as well as the typical “itis”es, such as tendonitis with a series of treatments. Definitely worth learning- not fun like Freedom Bodywork®, but when you need it, there is nothing like it. Here is a possible option for drug-free living!

Teaching Skills Classes this year:

My popular class for becoming a CE Provider, Teaching Skills for the Workshop Leader is scheduled twice this year. Get personalized help developing your class in a small group setting.
  • March class in Raleigh, NC- you could be approved to offer CE classes by Fall!
  • September (Labor Day Weekend) class in downtown historic Wilmington, NC- only 2 blocks from Front Street at the new Marriott Courtyard Hotel. It will be a happening weekend!
The Teacher Training Intensive is coming to NC Massage School in Cornelius, NC (near Charlotte) in May. The course is designed for massage school teachers, and for those who would like become massage school teachers. The new shorter version is 18 hours instead of 21, so Sunday afternoon is yours!

I do plan to teach Teaching! Getting Started this fall in the Asheville area, but I still do not have a venue. This is a 2-day class for learning a little about how one might go about getting teaching experience, community teaching, and some basic information about teaching opportunities in our profession.

State CE changes and license renewals:

North Carolina now accepts up to 8 credits in business/marketing towards meeting renewal requirements instead of only 3 credits. So that’s worth being aware of. There are also some changes coming in regard to structure and approval of CE Providers. It appears that it will be a smooth transition for us all- basically the NCBTMB will need to have a contract with the North Carolina State Board to approve CE Providers, and that is in the works. Additional organizations may be able to approve CE Providers, but we will have to wait to see how all that plays out. The Board’s website is www.bmbt.org but there is not much in the way of information about any of this up there at this time.

Georgia has named NCBTMB as the only organization to approve their CE providers, and has instituted the use of CE Broker for online recording and reporting of CE credits. Georgia therapists will have to report their renewal CE hours for their 2016 renewal using CE Broker so each therapist needs to go online and set up a CE Broker account by October 1. There  is no charge. Here are instructions: http://sos.ga.gov/index.php/licensing/plb/33 Georgia also has very strict rules regarding what constitutes a hands-on class, which is required for a minimum of 12 CE hours when you renew. If you click on the FAQ box in the right column you can then access the question, “Are there Continuing Education requirements for renewal of a Massage Therapist license?” which gives the basics.

South Carolina therapists will be renewing this June. To find out what is required go to http://www.llr.state.sc.us/POL/MassageTherapy/index.asp?file=faq.htm . South Carolina accepts all NCBTMB approved classes, and also now offers to approve CE Providers directly through the SC Board. If you are traveling to South Carolina from another state for your CE classes, be sure to check that the CE Provider is nationally approved and not just approved in SC if you plan to use those credits for license renewal in your home state.

Tennessee therapists will also be renewing this fall, and need 25CE, 4 of which are state specific in Ethics and Business Law and 21 of which are open to the therapists’ choice. You can read the Tennessee rules on continuing education for renewal by clicking on this link http://share.tn.gov/sos/rules/0870/0870.htm and choosing the middle box. Then scroll down the document to section 0870-01-.12 Continuing Education. There is also some information here: http://tn.gov/health/article/ML-coedu .
