Help us recreate Andy Warhol’s legendary hang-out?
A Southampton City Art Gallery - Volunteering opportunity
Imagine a night in 1969, Andy Warhol’s in the house and you’re surrounded by the most notable artists in New York City.
The Velvet’s are on stage. Lou Reed announces he’s leaving the band. Pandemonium!
We are looking for actors and musicians to recreate the Warhol hang out Max's Kansas City.
We need a group of musicians to perform as the band ‘The Velvet Underground’
on Friday 17th June at the Soul Cellar
here in Southampton.
We also need actors to come and roll play for us.
There’s no pay, but you’ll get the chance to build up your experience and CV as a performer at a high profile event.
Picture: This is the ‘look’
Max's Kansas City was the place where Warhol and his entourage, the "Bucket of Blood", spent their time. It was a safe haven for the artists, musicians, models and important people.
Here's what Paul Klib had to say about Warhol's social revolution:
"There was the ordinary heterosexual crowd and then you had the Warhol crowd, which was kind of a pioneer,
and later in the seventies became so prevalent. It became the rock style."
See all you bohemian hipsters and cool cats here...
