Apple blossoms in the Food Forest!
Dear Friends,

It’s difficult to describe all of the feelings going on within the community right now. We’re still in the afterglow of the wonderful and successful sanctuary summit, a weekend where everyone brought their good intentions, expressed through music, art, the laughter of children, and shared learning.

At the same time, the community's heart is torn apart by the loss of two from our Next Generation. Taken from us in their late 40s and early 50s, what we now recognize as the prime of life. One, a son, a pillar of a business working with his father, that had grown to include his two sons, the grandsons. The other, a doctor, who gave so much to so many. A mother, a daughter, a sister. Too soon, too soon. We are shocked to be hit so hard. Such is the way of life.

It is at these times we better understand why the Buddha says, “all life is suffering.” From the suffering, we find greater compassion.

Peace,
Douglas

Exceeding Expectations - The FIRST Sanctuary Summit (but not the last!)

The 200 who came with the addition of another hundred farm family and friends, made it large enough to feel like a very happening event, but small enough to be intimate and filled with loving conversations.

A family-friendly event, with activities and playground equipment for the kids.

The weekend was not without its challenges, the face of mother nature calling forth High winds along with tornadoes, bringing destruction to surrounding counties and across several states. We were fortunate to have only a few tents blow away as people took shelter inside a building adjacent to the event’s center.

The rest of the weekend was filled with sunshine as the dogwood blossoms fully opened to show us their beauty all around.

Speaking Engagements
At the same time, I recognize that I can reach a lot more people if I go outside the community. One of my goals is to speak at colleges and universities where I can talk to young people about Right Livelihood, Service, and Finding Sanity in an Insane World. This is a time when people need to hear an uplifting message of hope.

If you are part of an organization, event, or school (or you just want to learn more about my life's work), I invite you to visit my website www.douglasstevenson.com, where you'll find information on my lecture topics and how to bring me to speak in your area.
Thank you for your interest, and your support. I hope to see you down the road.
