April showers bring May flowers...and yarn events! We are kicking off the season this Saturday as we celebrate Local Yarn Store day! We will be featuring exclusive colorways, kits, and patterns (think Emma's yarns, Mad Tosh, Blue Sky and Malabrigo) just for this special day so come down and see what we have for you.

We also have a full calendar of classes, events, and other specials for the month of May including our Emotional Support Animal KAL/CAL for Mental Health Awareness month and the start of the Knitted Wit National Parks yarn season. If that wasn't enough, the Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Fest will be happening again at Masterson Station park on May 18 & 19 and we will be there in our normal spot. We can't wait to see you all there!!

Local Yarn Shop Day 2024

Local Yarn Store day is this week- Saturday, April 27th. We have a few special yarns that we will be putting out in the shop for that day. We also have giveaways and pattern codes from Blue Sky Fibers, Casapinka, Berocco, Cascade, Mad Tosh, Malabrigo, and others. We are privilaged to be your local yarn shop.
First up is a beautiful colorway from Madeline Tosh dyed especially for Local Yarn Store day, Spring Fever, which we have in the Tosh Sock (100% Superwash merino, 395 yards per 100g) along with a code for a free download of Lena Skvagerson's Peony for Your Thoughts Scarf (above). In addition, we ordered more of last year's special color, Bonair, which would also look amazing in this scarf as well.

New from Emma's, “Love My Local Yarn Shop” is their limited-edition custom colorway in celebration of LYS Day 2024! We are soo loving the happy, colorful spots all tied together with cool, concrete grays! We will have limited skeins of this colorway in thier Practically Perfect Sock base, perfect for the Love Your Sweater and Local Yarn Cowl patterns below.

In addition, Emma's introduced a new theme pack to celebrate the day- LYS Lover. Each pack has ten Practically Perfect Smalls for a total of 200g, 810yds of fingering weight yarn in a perfectly cordinated pack. We really like these for projects like the Colourful Geometry Scarf, the Trifle Wrap, the Cooma CowlAberration CowlShifting Light shawl, or to create a colorful yoke in patterns like the Ola Yoke, the Fernwood Sweater, or the Crofthoose Yoke.

We will also have codes for Love Your Sweater (LYS) by Becca Anderson for LYS Day. This beautiful spring top is made using one color of fingering weight and one of a cobweb lace mohair or suri alpaca held double (this can be replaced by a second fingering if prefered.) The resulting sweater is light with a beautiful drape.

Malabrigo has joined the LYS Day fun by offering codes four four of their patterns, all using different lines of their yarns. The designs from left to right are Langham using Mechita, River using Rasta, Arrow Cowl using Rios, and Dotty using Sock. Patterns will be free with yarn purchase.

One of our favorite things about LYS Day is the annual LYS Day pattern release by Casapinka. Her designs are always fun and can usually be made with 1-2 skeins of yarn, really letting those unique hand dyes shine. This year's design is a cowl designed to be simple since we can all use a little simple right now. You will receive an individual code for a free pattern download when you purchase yarn. You can use a solid and speckled, solid and variegated, or 2 solids. It requires 320 yards of each skein but can also be made to use all of the yarn. We made a sample that will be in the shop for you to check out using two colors of Tosh sock- Coffee Grounds and last year's LYS Day color, Bonair (which we reordered for LYS Day this year.)

Events at ReBelle

May is Mental Health Awareness Month so for our shop knit/crochet along we are making emotional support animals. The main focus will be the Emotional Support Chicken pattern by Annette Corsino which is available in both a knit and crochet version on Ravelry. Most of the group will be working on these, but if you would like to participate and a chicken does not appeal to you, Robyn made a Ravelry bundle of other animals who might be your perfect emotional support pal.

All ReBelle knit alongs are free and open to the public. You are welcome to attend as many or as few of the KAL sessions as you like.

Staying in theme for Mental Health Awareness month, we are issuing a challenge for customers to knit or crochet everyday in May. As little as a couple of stitches or as much as a few hours, the goal is to create a habit that is good for your mental health. At the end of the month, submit your physical or digital tracker to us and we will be doing a drawing on June 6 for a $50 ReBelle gift card.

Trackers are available in the shop or if you want a digital version to keep on your phone or print yourself, you can download the pdf here
