Wade was at the Lorain County Fair with Randy Owen, but because the fiddle player was delayed, Randy asked Wade to do an "opening set." Wade responded with a half hour of music, ending with "Old Enough to Know Better" with Megan Mullins when she arrived. He was received very warmly by the crowd.

* SHOW NOTES
September performances at Judge Beans and at O'Bryans - very well attended and very well received. A contrast in styles. The show at the Judge's included a full band with some of Nashville's top musicians - Kevan Ray on guitar, Walter Cross on drums, Aaron Till on fiddle, and Durren Theriault on bass. From the opening notes of "Make-Up and Faded Blue Jeans" to a closing of "I'm Still Dancing With You" the band gave a fabulous performance! They tore their way through "Ride that Hummingbirdl". More was smokin' than the Judge's BarBQ. Wade held forth with some of his standards - warmly welcomed. He had some cover songs I'd never heard him do before - Merle Haggard's "Farmer's Daughter and Keith Whitley's " I'm Over You," "Miami, My Amy." Trent Willmon joined him on stage for a few songs - Wade backed him on the bass guitar for "Beer Man." After the band packed up, Wade picked up his acoustic guitar to do a sing-along of "Old Enough to Know Better." Thanks, Wade.
O'Bryan's is in Randy Lanham's home territory. Randy was Wade's fiddle player in the Wheel Hoss band. They're still fast friends. It's always a good road trip to go and see them do an acoustic set. The crowd loved listening and dancing and partying to the music. Good sound - thanks, Mike Smith. Randy did his usual superb job on "Orange Blossom Special." Wade's song choices were tops as usual. Though, I have a hard time deciding which version of Wade's "Wichita Lineman" that I like best. He ends the telecaster version with an awesome instrumental solo; on the acoustic version his voice transcends. I'll just call it a toss-up and continue to enjoy both of them immensely. This night he added another Keith Whitley song, "When You Say Nothing at All." Good to see all the folks who came in for this one - Missouri, Eastern Kentucky, California, Michigan, Illinois, Tennessee, Indiana, Iowa (hope I didn't miss anyone). September was a very good month. ~~ Helen
