Matthew 28:5-7 The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you."

MOST IMPORTANT MESSENGERS

When was the last time God sent an angel messenger to help you? Was it when you lost your car keys? Or misplaced your wallet? Maybe when you were running behind on supper and needed some help in the kitchen? Yeah, you're right, that's a silly idea.

The Bible tells us that God's angels are spirit beings that do whatever he tells them too. But God doesn't send them to appear on just any old occasion. No, angel appearances are reserved for very special work.

That's why angels were sent to the tomb early on Easter morning. Prophets in the Old Testament had foretold that the Savior would suffer in the place of all sinners on a cross. And they had foretold that He would rise from the dead as well. The empty tomb shouted the message also, but God sent His special servants to make everything completely clear to the world. The Savior had done it. The price had been paid. Now the humble, suffering servant had been raised to glorious life and power.

The angel messengers who appeared on that first Easter Sunday serve to remind us of the importance of the Christ's resurrection. Important messengers brought the most important message--He is risen, your sins are forgiven.

This fact helps us keep perspective in life. Often we let the little things get us all upset. Little things that God wouldn't even think about sending an angel messenger to deal with. It's the big things that matter. Things that God sends his messengers to announce. Things like Easter. Things like the gift of forgiveness given through Christ.
