With Halloween just around the corner, make sure
to keep your pet away from candy buckets and trick
or treat bags. Chocolate contains theobromine, which
is poisonous for cats and dogs. Unsweetened (baker's)
chocolate is the most toxic. It contain 8-10 times more
theobromine as milk chocolate. If you suspect your pet
of satisfying his sweet tooth, call your vet right away for
advice.

Here's an upate on our newest cat here:
When we heard the news that this kitten was going to be
put down just because she was black, we jumped into
action and offered to let her come here, where we have
a number of black cats.
Her name is DaLinda, though we renamed her Georgia,
as that's where she came from. She was stuck in a high-
kill shelter south of Atlanta, but we put in a claim to save
her life, and our resident trucker (Ed) drove her all the way
home! What a delightful little kitty she is, too. Less than
a year old, she is a bright spot around here.
As soon as possible, our cat pages will be updated and
you will be able to see her.

There is no shortage of cruelty stories, unfortunately, and I
promised not to share the bad ones with you in the newsletter.
However, this one isn't as bad as most and has a good
outcome... the cat gets to go home and the guy who did
this will be punished. I share this to remind us all to be on
the lookout for sinister happenings so we might be able to
come to the aid of one some day. If we always close our
eyes, we may miss an opportunity to save a life.
