Psalms 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain.

LORD, BLESS OUR EFFORTS IN BEHALF OF YOUR LAMBS

It is the time of year when we open the doors of our Sunday Schools, Day Schools, and confirmation classes in our churches. In keeping with the gracious will of our Savior, we want to do all we can to pass on to the next generation the saving truths of His Word. We believe the Spirit-inspired Scriptures are able to make our children wise for salvation. They are beneficial "for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:15-16).

As we seek to bring up our children in the Lord's training and instruction it's important (and comforting!), to know that success doesn't depend on our own abilities and expertise. By ourselves we could accomplish nothing worthwhile in the interests of our children's spiritual and eternal well-being. We ask our Good Shepherd to prosper our work of sowing His Gospel seed in young hearts.

Lord Jesus, precious Savior, You have instructed us to impress the saving truths of Your Word on our children. We commend to Your watchful care all forms of Christian education among us. Whether in private Bible study or in the weekly Sunday School hour, whether in elementary or secondary education, make us diligent to keep Your Word an active part of our lives and to support the training in the Word for all ages. Because we enjoy forgiveness in You, we wish to teach Your forgiveness, O Christ. Bless our efforts in Your holy name. Amen.
