July 2, 2020
We're excited to share another week of news & ideas with our MAiZE family. There never seems to be a shortage of ideas and the truth is that some of the best originate with all of you! So, if you ever have an idea you'd like us to pass along to the group, please just send it our way. Also, please remember that we'll be archiving these ideas on the siteowner web site, so that you can go back and view them whenever you like.

If anyone is aware of a better supplier for any of these items, however, please let us know so that we can keep this document updated as new resources may become available.

July 15 Deadline For College Scholarship Applications
Due to the generous support of the Corn Party auction, this year 6 scholarships in the amount of $3000 will be awarded to students enrolled for full-time upper education (i.e., college, tech school, etc.) in the fall of 2018. Applications are due July 15.

Those eligible to apply for the Daniel Huffstutler & Dale Herbst scholarship include immediate family members of current MAiZE farm owners, or any farm employee who has worked on your farm for at least 3 years. Those who have applied in the past are encouraged to apply again, as long as they have not yet received the scholarship. Past winners of this scholarship are not eligible to re-apply.
Applicants must be enrolled to attend college (or other forms of higher education) this fall. We appreciate all those who contributed to making so many scholarships possible this year.

Got Your Maze Design Idea?
If you haven't already, it's time to submit your maze design concept! If you are still uncertain about a maze design idea for this year, please either:

1. Visit our design directory in the private MAiZE online toolbox to view past designs and some highlighted popular themes for this year

2. Or reach out to your maze designer to brainstorm and get their input on popular options this year. If you are uncertain re: who your designer is, please let us know.

We also wanted to send a more detailed update re: the Toy Story campaign we've been pursuing since January. As you know, our negotiations with Disney had progressed further than they ever have in previous years (we've been trying for so long to get our foot in the door with Disney for a national campaign!) and it looked like we were going to be able to move forward with a Toy Story campaign for any of our farms who were interested. Unfortunately, as was announced in May, when Covid hit and Disney eventually had to furlough the large majority of their employees, there was just too much uncertainty and they didn't have the staffing to support the campaign going forward. We have tried hard to keep our relationship intact with them and they have agreed to doing one maze this year with Cornbelly's as a stepping stone for future national efforts. It's all they feel they can confidently agree to this year and we feel it is a good step forward in solidifying relationships, going through the lengthy process of determining what their legal department will and won't approve, exploring what will work best in a national campaign next year, etc. We appreciate your patience as we keep trying to put something together to benefit all our farms in 2021 and just wanted to keep you all up to date on the status and plans going forward.
