Next Wednesday was due to have been a double bill of The Members' Evening and the Themed Summer Print Competition; unfortunately the TSPC has had to be cancelled and instead we will be seeing a full evening of images from club members. Please come along and support your fellow members, some of whom are not used to presenting their work to such an august crowd as you. I'm sure that the evening will be a thoroughly enjoyable one and without an ego in sight!

Themed Summer Print Competition
|
As mentioned in the paragraph above, the TSPC has had to be cancelled this year, below is a short message I received today from David & Patsy:
Thank you to all who put in entries to the summer print competition. Unfortunately there were not enough to make a competition which a judge could assess. Please could you collect your prints from box at the back of the clubroom.
Maybe the subject was not a popular one, the weather was off-putting earlier in the year when evenings were dark sooner, or maybe there are just too many competitions around!
We hope to try again next year, and would welcome ideas for the theme.

On a couple of occasions recently, the person opening up on a Wednesday evening has found that the door from the entrance lobby into the main clubroom/studio was unlocked. Members should be aware that BPS members are not the only people with access to the entrance lobby and that anyone using the clubroom or studio (other than regular meetings) MUST ensure that all doors are locked when they leave, not just the outside door.
|
Last week I mentioned that the clubrooms would be out of action between Monday 26 August and Tuesday 3 September for essential maintenance and redecoration work. There is now a possibility that the decorators may be able to start earlier, so the date has now been brought forward to Thursday 22 August to Tuesday 3 September.

Following the recent success of their night shoot at Didcot Railway Centre, Neil Cave and his partners are running another evening on 29 August, full details can be downloaded here. Keith Wood went on the last one and has already booked his place on the 29th, which must be a huge recommendation in itself.

West Wilts Motor Vehicle Trust will be running their Lacock at War 2013 show at the local Parish Council playing fields SN15 2LQ, on 17th - 18th August.
After their first appearance at Lacock Village, they have decided to build on the success of the last show, to bring you another great event for 2013. The idea is to bring the village alive by stepping back in time. You can expect to see an array of Military Vehicles, both old and new. Most of these will be on the field, with a few dotted around the village too. A great picture opportunity! There will be great trade stands to look around, living history exhibits and NAAFI to enjoy a tea & doughnut. They will also have living history groups, who will be set up on the field and parading through the Lacock Village streets. Lacock Village will come alive with the sights and sounds of the 1940's (quite a few BPS members should feel right at home!). More details on the MVT website
