Europropre 2017

Paris: Pollet wins the Innovation Award

End 2016, Pollet specialized in developing and manufacturing green cleaning products for professionals, launched the Caps. The Caps are concentrated refills to be screwed on existing sprays. A clear objective: to reduce waste and even encourage recycling by offering customers to return empty refills. After 6 months, the Cap program turns out to be a real success. The program was awarded first prize of the Innovation Trophy at Europropre, which took place in Paris.

Caps: an innovation that affects the environment
Most sprays used for cleaning contain more than 95 per cent water. This requires unnecessary transport and storage costs. The product manufacturers therefore offer concentrated products to be diluted on site. If this solution solves the problems of transport and storage, it raises other ones: unnecessary consumption due to uncontrolled dilutions or the handling of concentrated chemicals. Caps are small refills of concentrated product for sprays. They come to screw on the bottle. During screwing, a membrane is pierced and releases the concentrated product into the bottle. Once the mixture is homogeneous, the operator unscrews the Cap's and places the gun back to the bottle. Beyond the technical benefits, the environmental impact is major because Caps only weigh 11 grams (against more than 80 grams of plastic for ready to use spray).

Recycling Caps
Caps and their packaging are fully recyclable. As soon as a "cartridge" containing 4 Caps is used, the customer can return it. Pollet sells the cartridges in pre-stamped boxes. Customers have the possibility to return without cost, the empty Cap’s to the factory for recycling - as of today, the return proposal is only available on Belgian and French markets.
Product recycling is a novelty in the world of cleaning and cleaning professionals. And it is greeted with great enthusiasm.

Laureate of the Innovation Trophy
It is precisely the concepts of consumption management and return of the used Caps that was rewarded in Paris at the prestigious Europropre fair. Pollet was awarded the first prize of the Innovation Trophy. Europropre takes place every two years and brings together the major professional players in hygiene and cleanliness solutions.
