" Since, as a young child, standing beside my Father I stared at the night sky through a telescope, I have been fascinated by Space; the Universe; stars and planets. Thanks to modern technology, we are now able to see images and photographs that have been taken of the wonders of all that is above us. These images fire my imagination and have inspired me to create what has become an on-going series of abstract paintings which I have entitled 'BOOM!' ".

Thoughts behind the Breakthrough series:
 
"My Breakthrough series came about whilst I was experimenting with an idea that I was pondering with the intention of applying to City Lights, another series of mine. However, having painted a small canvas to see if the experiment would work, I decided to explore the ‘background’ further, and with intent, on a much larger canvas and the result was 'Breakthrough I'. I felt as though I had had a breakthrough in my practice - a sort of liberation. We all have situations that can hold us back and from which we need to break away in order to progress or make changes; obstacles to overcome, or break through, if you will ".
