Romans 8:31 If God is for us, who can be against us?
KEY QUESTIONS FOR A NEW YEAR (7)
The devil and his demons will oppose God's children until the end of time. The philosophies, false teachings, values, and priorities of the world will continue to stand against us until Christ returns. But no matter what the forces of evil may do to us, we can never be defeated. Why? Because God is for us. Since God Almighty is for us, who can possibly successfully oppose us?
But it is getting hard out there, isn't it? It can seem like Satan is winning. It can feel like we just can't stand another assault from the world against our faith. It can seem like Christ's people are going down to defeat.
But fear not little flock. God's Word assures us that all the powers of the present evil age have been defeated. The head of the Serpent has been crushed. When Christ rose on Easter Sunday, Satan's evil empire went down to defeat. Sure, the Devil and the unbelieving world will still try to frighten us. They will persecute us. They may take our homes and possessions. They may try to blacken our good name. They may even kill us. But, no matter what, nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. No matter what, our God will not leave us or forsake us! No matter what, nothing can rob us of our inheritance in Heaven!
In these last days, I really feel that this verse, and others like it, are ones we need to repeat to ourselves over and over again. We need to write them down and tape them to our refrigerators. We need to write them on our fogged up bathroom mirrors in the morning as we begin the day. We need to text them and e-mail them to ourselves, and to one another. "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Absolutely no one! That was true 2000 years ago. It was true in 2018. It will be true in 2019, and for however long this fallen world endures!
