NPCC Affiliate Leaders:

The Native Plant Conservation Campaign held our first national conference call on Friday, November 13. It was attended by 11 native plant conservation organizations from almost every region of the country. Several other native plant societies participated by e mail. We exchanged information about activities, challenges and priorities.

The quantity and quality of plant conservation and science accomplished by these – predominantly volunteer - organizations was astonishing and impressive.

Summary notes from the call will be distributed soon.

On the call and in the pre-call survey, many native plant societies indicated that they were working on various pollinator initiatives. The Xerces Society (a NPCC Cooperator) is a national leader in pollinator science and conservation. Because native plant societies’ emphasis on restoration, expansion and conservation of native plant communities directly benefits pollinators, and pollinator conservation in return benefits native plants, the NPCC works with Xerces to promote these mutual goals.

Here are some pollinator resources and programs from NPCC Affiliates and Cooperators that may provide ideas of how to get involved in the surge of public interest in pollinators. If we have missed your pollinator page, please let me know.
