Mark Malloch Brown was UN Deputy Secretary-General and Chief of Staff under Kofi Annan. He worked closely with the Secretary-General on all aspects of the UN's work, including helping to set out an ambitious reform agenda, much of which was endorsed by world leaders at the World Summit in 2005.

Before that, he was a Vice-President at the World Bank, and held positions in the UN Refugee Agency and with The Economist. He has also served as Vice Chairman of George Soros’ Fund and of the World Economic Forum.
After leaving the UN, Lord Malloch-Brown served as a UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office Minister, with particular responsibility for strengthening relationships with Africa and Asia and the international system. In 2009, he was the Prime Minster’s envoy for preparation of the London G20 Summit.
He is currently Chairman of Europe, Middle East and Africa at FTI Consulting, and is also on a number of non-profit and advisory boards, including the Royal Africa Society, International Crisis Group, Open Society Foundation and Save the Children International.

Get involved
Two actions you can take to support the UN:
Thank a UN peacekeeper
Right now, over 120,000 men and women from 118 countries are serving as UN peacekeepers, risking their lives in the world's most difficult regions to rebuild societies wracked by violence and to support people who have known little but war. Please take a moment to thank them.
Support the MDGs
End poverty by 2015 - this is the historic promise world leaders made at the UN Millennium Summit in 2000, which agreed the Millennium Development Goals. The UN Millennium Campaign supports and inspires people from around the world to take action to raise awareness of the Goals and encourage leaders to keep their promise. Join the Campaign and show your support.
