Hello Firstname
Wednesday 12 December
This Wednesday will be the final formal meeting of the Society for 2012 and sees Robert Harvey ARPS, a member of Devizes CC, visiting us with his talk entitled Nature Photography through the Seasons. Britain has a remarkable variety of contrasting habitats for birds, mammals and other wild animals. Ranging from winter wildfowl to delicate dragonflies and nesting birds to rutting deer, explore downs, heaths, lakes and islands with Robert to see wildlife throughout the year.
To view some of Robert's work and read more about him, please visit his website www.robert-harvey.co.uk

DI Group
The DI Group meets next Monday, 10 December at 7.30pm - all are welcome. Neil McCoubrey will be presenting his set of twenty images for  'Pecha Kucha' which is an exhibition organised by RWA this Saturday. Some of you may know that Neil is one of the few members of RWA in the photographic category. It should be very interesting see those images and discover more about that project.
As usual members are invited to bring their own images, in print form or on a memory stick (in jpg format please) which they would like to share with the group. There is usually enough expertise in the group to resolve any queries or problems you may have with your images. Don't forget the challenge Ashwin set a couple of months ago to make a creative image to bring to the DI Group.
And don't forget there's always Ashwin's chocolate bicckies to look forward to.

Do You Use "Genuine Fractals"?
Our resident technocrat (some may call it "anorak") member, Greg Duncan, is doing some research on various ways of resizing images and would like to contact anyone who uses, or has the program, Genuine Fractals or its replacement Perfect Resize.

If you have or use either of these programs, please give him a call on 01373-466-756 or send him an email at kbc@kenebec.com

Newsletters to Download
There are several e-Newsletters that you can download this week, the first from the PAGB. This issue includes articles on awards for photographic merit and the poor deal landscape images get in competitions. To download Issue 80 please click here

A newsletter from further afield, the USA, can be found here; this is the fall (see how easily I slipped into a foreign language) issue of the PSA Projector which is the official e-Newsletter of the Photographic Society of America which we receive as BPS is a member of the PSA.

2013 Bristol Salon of Photography
You are invited to enter the 2013 Bristol Salon, which is free for BPS members up until 16 March, after which you will have to pay the full fee.
The Salon is the largest exhibition of its type in the UK and is one of the most highly regarded exhibitions to be held anywhere in the world.  It is well worth having a go, as it allows you to dip your toe in the murky water of international exhibitions without costing you a penny.
To enter just go to the BPS website www.bristolphoto.org.uk and follow the Bristol Salon link on the left hand side of the page.
If you have any problems or queries please email me at salon@bristolphoto.org.uk

The opening of the exhibition will be at The Harlequin Gallery in Watford on Saturday 3 -16 February 2013.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
A couple of weeks agoI mentioned the RPS Print Exhibition that is being held at Frome , what I didn't realise at the time was that one of our members, Andrew Wood, has a print included - well done Andrew.

If you want to blow your own trumpet or, dare I say such a thing, blow someone else's trumpet for them, then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include it in the next issue.

Items For Sale
If you have something photographic that you want to sell, why not let me have details and I can circulate them to a captive audience of photographers through the Newsletter - send to the usual address.

Copy required
If you have anything you think other members would like to know about, such as exhibitions, special events etc. please let me know at newsletter@bristolphoto.org.uk
