AFH FACEL VEGA RESTORATION UPDATES

At Amicale Facel Holland two marvelous restoration projects have been updated. The blue Facel Vega FV 4 has been given a top class paint system and the rolling chassis is being completed. The engine still has to be fitted and after that the 'marriage' of the body and the chassis will take place. The grey Facel Vega FV 3B has also received a pristine paintjob and the body has been placed on the chassis. Now the build-up process can commence!

The car drives perfectly and the exhaust-note is beautiful! In the year 2011 the engine and the gearbox were overhauled, an invoice of the works is present. This fine Jaguar XK 140 DHC shows all the original details. The automobile features a four speed manually operated gearbox with overdrive!

The work was carried out by Brooklands Classic Cars in the Netherlands to the highest standards! A complete photo reportage of the restoration is present as is a file containing all the service invoices and the maintenance log. The original owners’ manual is also present. Mercedes-Benz 300 SLS year 1957. Colour silver metallic. Race interior with bucket seats upholstered with blue leather and blue / grey cubes pattern cloth, dashboard clad in blue leather. This magnificent Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was in the years 2000/2001 modified to SLS specifications by the renowned firm of HK-Engineering in Germany. Fitted were items like a special SLS type low drag window, a special racing exhaust, a rubber racing petrol ‘cell’ in the boot and quick fasteners for the hood and the boot lid. This magnificent 300 SLS is in excellent condition and the car handles, drives and sounds perfectly! Over the last decade the car has built up a beautiful (racing) history in the Carrera Panamericana, Goodwood Revival, Oschersleben and on the Nurburgring. Last but not least the world famous drivers Jack Brabham and Stirling Moss have participated in the Australian ‘Classic Adelaide’ driving this car.

Triumph TR 3B, year 1962. Colour red with a black leather interior trimmed with white piping. Black carpet, black soft-top, side-screens, tonneau-cover and hood-cover. This is a rare Triumph TR 3B, the ‘B’ already features the 2138 cc engine which would later be fitted to the TR 4. Only 3331 examples of the TR 3B have been built. This gorgeous TR 3B was extensively and ‘body-off’ restored in the Netherlands in the past. A photo reportage of the restoration is present. During the restoration the mechanicals were also overhauled and/ or renewed, including the engine, gearbox, overdrive and the dashboard gauges. The chassis was sand-blasted and given a durable enamel coating. This rare TR 3B is in superb top condition and the car has won several prizes on Dutch and international (club) concourses.

Triumph TR 6, year 1969. Colour dark blue with a black full-leather interior and black carpet. Black mohair soft-top and hood-cover. This magnificent TR 6 was extensively and perfectly ‘body-off’ restored and overhauled a few years ago. The bodywork was restored from the metal up and it was given a superb new paint-system, the body shows crisp panel fit. The chassis was sand blasted and given a durable black enamel coating. Also, the mechanicals were extensively overhauled and/ or renewed including overhaul of the engine, gearbox and all the dashboard gauges. This is a superbly driving top example!

Triumph Stag, year 1975. Colour dark red (Damson Red) with a beige leathercloth interior and a black soft-top. This fantastic Triumph Stag is in very good and very original condition! The car shows all the original details. The bodywork was given new paint in the original colour a few years ago and the interior is fully original and in perfect condition! The original 3-Litre Triumph V8 engine was given up-rated cooling by the fitment of a header-tank, an additional electric cooling fan, an oil-cooler and an oil-pressure gauge. The 2+2 interior is quite spacious and it offers sufficient room for a family with two larger kids or young adults. Recently four new wheels were mounted and fitted with Vredestein tyres (185-14). This is a spacious, practical and comfortable English convertible in very good condition and with a beautiful exhaust note!

MG TD ‘Midget’, year 1950. Colour dark red with a beige leather interior and black carpet. Black soft-top. This is a very early and quite special MG TD; one of the first MG TD’s which were imported to the Netherlands. The chassis number is TD041X and the car was delivered as a so called ‘EXR’ model (Export and RHD – Right Hand Drive). This fine MG TD ‘Midget’ is very special because it comes with 1950’ies racing history on the legendary Dutch Zandvoort circuit! This period is well documented. The automobile was extensively and beautifully restored; this MG TD is in superb condition and the car drives very well. The car still features its original rugged steel disc-wheels (the early type without holes) and chrome hub-caps. Fitted are a sports steering wheel with wood rim and an additional Ampère gauge. This is a magnificent MG TD ‘Midget’ with Dutch competition history!
