"Urban Tellers" is the free season opener for Portland Story Theater's 2010/11 storytelling season.

If you've been curious about PST, now's your chance to come see what we do.

Each night features nine storytellers and nine short stories. The stories are personal, taken from the tellers' own lives and told without scripts or notes. These tellers have gone through Portland Story Theater's personal narrative workshop series to learn how to discover, develop, craft and deliver their stories. Performing right alongside them are PST founders, Lynne Duddy and Lawrence Howard. Each night is a different show --- come to both!

Here’s the lineup. On Friday, September 24th,  we’ll have Joshua Waldman, Lily Ningsih, Concetta Antonelli, Susan Mortimer, Ry Stroud, Jeff Burke, Sandra Geary, Bill Park, and Lawrence Howard, and on Saturday, September 25th, it’s Sarah Croy, Anet Ris-Kelman, Brad Clark, Lynn Siprelle, Marikay Ross, Cory Huff, Bindi, Lori King, and Lynne Duddy.

Storytelling is simple, straightforward, unadorned. No sets, no complex lighting plot, no period costumes, no soundtrack -- just the teller and the listeners, connecting. Very interactive. Human. Meaningful. Real.

PST events promote community and collaboration. Every show includes refreshments, creating a festive atmosphere. Wine will be provided by our newest collaborator, Storyteller Wine Company! When you attend a PST show it's more than a theatrical performance, it is a community experience where you feel connected, like you're a part of something. And all you have to do is come to the show!

Reservations are required as space is limited. Call 503-793-5484 or email  reservations@portlandstorytheater.com to reserve your seats.

Portland Story Theater was launched in 2004 to bring the urban community together for a unique performance experience, telling tales that stimulate the mind and rouse the heart. We are a grass-roots operation, building awareness and appreciation for narrative. In late 2009, we established ourselves as a not-for-profit business. PST uses a unique collaborative approach to produce shows where people perform stories drawn from real-life experiences. We also offer workshops and 1-on-1 coaching for people who want to learn how to tell stories. Portland Story Theater has been called "raw, revealing, vulnerable," by The Oregonian for our groundbreaking work that "keeps audiences entranced from start to finish."
