family minute:

Let's see . . . what's new in the O'Dell household?

Wil is getting all practiced and ready to play the live music at the book launch party on Friday, the 13th. He and his music buds have a set all lined up and I'm looking forward to hearing them play together. Hope you can come!

Erik (19) signed his contract, got his date, and is set to head off for basic training in July. It's going to be a long training stint for him, since he has to go through basic, tech school, and survival school--but he's so excited. I'm really proud of him!

Natalie (13) has a huge week! A couple of parties, a dance, a concert, a video taping, etc. She's packed to the hilt and loves every minute of it. I'm hoping for a week of rest for her next week. Today, she got into her swim suit and climbed into the pool (66-degree water) to help Wil clean the bottom. She can't wait for summer!

Emily (10) said Happy Mother's day about 100 times today. She's such a sweet girl. I cherish her heart and the special gifts she made me. She bubbles with excitement whenever she has a gift to give--she almost can't contain herself and would give it early every single time if I let her. :)

Logan (2.5) gave me the best Mother's Day gift ever--he took a nap in my arms for two hours. There's nothing like holding a baby while he sleeps, and drools, on you. We were outside for part of it and it was pure bliss.

Megan (2.5) got to spend the night at Grandma Party's without her siblings. It was an interesting test, and everyone passed. I think they kind of needed the break from each other, and Megan loved the one-on-one time with Gramma.

Ryleigh (2.5) hunted for dinosaurs in the tall grass behind our house for a long time today. She never did find them, but she heard them roar a bunch of times.

Isn't she cute? This is a novella collection I'm doing with Valerie Comer, Annalisa Daughety, and Cara Putman about geocaching in the Ozarks.

Rainbow’s End
a collection of four novellas, explores these questions within the scope of a larger event, a geocaching adventure set along the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Four women discover much more than they expected when they sign up for the challenge.

Love’s Reward, my novella in this collection
After winning her life-long battle to get fit, Hadley Parker thinks it's time for a reward. The couch potato is gone; now it's time to say goodbye to the wallflower. Determined, and about to turn thirty, Hadley signs up for the annual Rainbow’s End Treasure Hunt as a gift to herself. Unskilled in handling attention from good-looking men, Hadley nearly makes a huge mistake by falling for Brad, a fellow competitor and confirmed bachelor. Youth pastor and hunt director, Noah Templeton, tries to warn her before things go too far, but Hadley mistakes his sincerity for jealousy. Will she see past the syrupy compliments of the ill-intentioned womanizer? And will Noah manage to remind Hadley that the treasures she truly seeks are already within her . . . and right in front of her?

This obviously isn't a YA novel--it's just a fun branch into the adult world. I don't intend to move there, just visiting for a minute or two. :)

Releasing March, 2012, Barbour Publishing
